They're pretty classic. If you're trying to modernize it, do it in little ways. Instead of a regular chino, try something with a VERY slight anti-fit. Or something that's loose and cuffed, but in a traditional fabric. You've got a little less latitude given how your shoes look.

I'm gonna cop a few more pod shorts for summer, gonna try out fits with the Nike Field Generals I bought and thinking about the SFTM sneakers... but for 1000 there are so many other options out there. Might just go combat boots again.

I agree about the CdG shorts, they're a different beast, in fabric and construction. Rick feel more... athletic? though never actually play sports... i tried futsal in full Rick and ripper a pair of pods... luckily it was the threads and just had it resewed.

They're cheap, really good quality. I actually only wear one pair, the other two are still in packaging waiting for the first pair to die (2 years and going strong).

Give them a go, if you don't like the shorts over legging look you can always just wear them in winter to keep you warm :)

It certainly does look better when you're tall as fuck, because the silhouette by definition crunches your proportions to make you look like you have shorter legs and a longer torso. If you're already lanky, it would help.

i wear my pods a lil bit higher and cinch the waistband with the drawstrings to keep them there, i like having that option and it works better for me because they're less likely to bind/give more freedom of movement. i like the way that the gusset on rick's drop sort of closes and opens with movement, whereas the wider gusseting on cdg seems to just sort of flap about.

this is a pretty standard crotch gusset
this one is so small that i think it's just meant to displace seams away from the taint, or to save pants that can't be tailored to fit. the depth of rick's crotch dropping required quite a lot more ease and a lot more of that ease had to be thrown forward, which is why they have that hard triangular shape. then rick just cut it into the central butt panel in back instead of leaving it as its own panel, and he blended the triangle into the seat curve.

the core block for pods is kind of a standard bermuda, into which a massive drop and gusset has been grafted. you could take the gusset out and shape the crotch seam into where the legs first split and have a very boring pair of shorts that would be difficult to move in instead of an amazing pair of shorts that are difficult to move in.

no, that's the front panel, please note the drawstrings.
they make it easier to move, period, than it would be if you took a normal crotch construction and dropped it to the knees. i have trouble without cinching the waist only because of how far the the crotch falls - below the knees - when the waistband dives down to my bum. i use the drawstrings to cinch it to where the models wear it (and above when i am feeling dat #highwaistlooks) and it fits as papa rick intended

It's as simple as this, I made a statement about Rick jacket's tailoring, an opinion I have formed after actually going to the stores and trying on the jackets. You wrote a whole bunch of rhetoric then made a statement about how you haven't even tried on a properly fitted Rick Jacket (the comment about 2 sizes larger)... now in my logical steps that pretty much negates everything you had written before... cause you can write about construction methods all you like, if you haven't tried on the jacket then you're not going to know what I was referring to. Hence my simple comment about "Go and try one on that's your size and you'll see what I was talking about" the second half of which was a reference to my earlier post about " just look at his jackets and how they're tailored. It all started when he made the first thread about sruli recht, informing /fa/ about this cool designer he discovered.
he got bashed by /fa/ and that's sort of like the starting point in his creation of a defense mechanism.
Then he bought his first sruli recht pieces, showing them off, talking about sruli sending him an extra thing with his purchase.
Here's when he was more humble, and started posting his first hobo-core fits, these were really the first thing on /fa/ that inspired me to love that sort of style.
Then, of course if you drop a lot of cash on a few pieces, you have to start saving up again, understandable. He posted similar fits in WAYWTs and people on /fa/ got bored of it after a while and starting picking on him.
