I'd be pretentious if I didn't say that I spend most of the time on the internet looking for outfits which I can emulate. It's not necessarily 'inspiration' its more like copying what shit I want and trying to find an alternative if it's expensive/rare. I do wish I'd reach the stage where I would find my own style but realistically speaking I don't think it's gonna happen, almost finishing college and getting into the whole biz-caz uniform in the workforce and what have you.

I'd say my style fits who I am since I o live in a rural-ish area so wearing workwear type of clothing is kind of acceptable.

they look cool and fit me in the way I desire.
Hopefully good quality as well but whatever

i live in a hot place so I wear relatively light clothing
i hike a fair amount so I have a decent interest in more utilitarian (but stylish) clothing as of late (hiking boots, waterproof outerwear, slim-cut cargo pants)

but sometimes I just feel like buying random stuff, basically anything I find cool, and then trying to create something out of it rather than strive for a singular aesthetic

fit/price/brand

that order
although i'd be willing to pay fullprice for about 3 dozen or so brands

i try not to with brands that i could take or leave. somethimes it's just impossible sine H&M or low end brands never really have sales on menswear

they just bring in random junk and price it at $5 increments to make it seem like you're getting a deal while their nicer pieces selvedge denim, wool pea coats, denim shirting)

while their cheap scrap fabric junk like tees, dress shirts, and shoes always hit "sales"

this is just a relatable example as saks and neiman marcus do the same thing

also, i pay a little bit more for places that have independent boutiques here (james perse, turnbull etc) just becuase i dislike malls for the crowds and not a people person

Finally, an interesting thread topic. Thanks, OP.

For me, it's quality, fit, and price--in that order.

Quality, for me, is largely preferred. I was brought up in a poor household. My parents could only afford shitty K-Mart-tier clothes that would fall apart after a few weeks. There was a point where we would rely on Goodwill clothing. To this day, I reject cheap shitty clothing because it reminds me of my shameful past. I reject H&M clothing with fervor.

price, quality, design

honestly idgaf about brands, I'll be as happy with wreck ovens as with some unbranded shit from a thrift store, as long as the design and quality are fucking fantastic
