What is the most amount of money you have bought a watch for? And why should you pay $10,000s of dollars for a watch instead of a replica if you just like the look and the feeling and know it's not going to impress anybody?

>> No.7144419

i think people delve so far into watches that they forget that watches read time and a $5 watch can read the same time as a $10000 watch because whens the last time you actually cared for the altitude or some other random watch bullshit
i realise its for the look and build quality and etc but if you're not rich why buy things only rich people can afford

About 2,000. I was in vegas and i wasn't really thinking straight. To much drinking and just not giving a fuck I blew like like 10,000 in that vegas trip in total. I haven't worn it since i came back from vegas. There's just no way i can sport this watch where i live without looking like a fucking idiot or getting robbed.

Only buy a replica watch using replica printed money. Never buy retail cuz retail is for suckers. Buy one that's never out of style and you'll get your moneys back.

The most I've ever spent is $200+ on a impulse bought Citizen Automatic which is never worn. I'd keep my Seiko 5 SNKL15 until I have the dosh for a proper Tudor or Rolex Oyster.

No one only wears watches to tell the time. The time on your phone or microwave is more accurate than a rolex or whatever other mechanical watch you like.

Personally I wear one because I'm OCD about timekeeping and I just appreciate wearing a nice watch. It's also a slightly more subtle way to check the time compared to pulling you phone out.

>> No.7144954

Sometimes I think it's the only way to bling yourself out (if you're a guy). A nice watch on your wrist looks better than a necklace or an earring.

I see watches as an accessory that just so happens to tell the time.

Rolex watches are douchey. Microwaves aren't douchey. You should wear a microwave on your wrist.

Watches look like shit. Never wear a watch. Watches are accessories for autistic manchildren. Watches are testament to the poor fashion sense of the wearer. Again, watches look like shit. Never wear a watch.

Yeah I think a watch is the only widely accepted form of male jewellery. Apart from maybe cuff-links as well.

I also never understood why people always like to question the function of wearing a watch. No one asks why people wear RO geos when they could just wear cheap and comfy vans that perform exactly the same function.

Spot on. Aside from the accessory function. A watch is a great tool, aside from time telling.

Did you know that watches can be used as compasses? Or how about:
>signal reflector
>fire starter, using the crystal
>fishing lure-- using wrist band bits
>as a weapon-- kinda like brass knuckles

I actually used my Seiko diver as a compass, when I hiking trip in Canada went bad.
