Depends on the knit, depends on the weave, and depends on the cut. The pleated style (a la Yohji, CdG) is almost always done in woven to have some memory that the pleat can use. Compare it to waist-tied Raf pants from the late 90's, early 00's that were jersey tees and whatnot wrapped around. Just different effects.
