tl;wr: how to look good in formal and semi-formal situations WITHOUT a shirt.

i dont like shirts.
no matter the fit, colour or pattern, tie or no tie: i dont feel comfortable in them. i simply dont like myself in shirts.

what alternatives are there to wearing a shirt?
think:
- in the office
or when
- making an effort on a date

occasions where it's considered "normal" to wear a shirt.

i know that on really really formal occasions there is no way around.
but how do you still look smart/sharp/dressy without a shirt in "everyday-formal-situations". it seems like it's the base for all formal outfits - and that bugs me.

in summer i pulled of t-shirts and polos under a blazer. now i feel the only alternative is jumpers. or t-shirt/polo+cardigan

tbh no real replacements for shirts

half-zips would be my closest suggestion. Definitely date appropriate, I love it when guys wear these. Another anon said cardigans... but honestly you should just get over your button down hang up, they're gr8.

Not a permanent alternative you'll be able to get away with all the time and /fa/ might crucify me for this but, turtlenecks.

Still no such thing as a replacement for shirts, though.

Be Putin. Sadly, that's probably not feasible for you.

Maybe a henley could work? Still not as formal, but you'll at least look dexter-tier

Henleys are not formal in the slightest.

It's got buttons and is better than a turleneck, though.

How should a shirt fit?

>> No.7136371

buttons don't really make something formal though. idk how to describe it but it's just that shirts are shirts, there's no replacement for them really

Well, but with enough ease so it doesn't pull out of your trousers when you move your arm.

>> No.7136384

Maybe, just maybe, you could get away with a polo under a v-neck sweater, but that sounds highly unlikely.

The pique is a dead giveaway. There are some rather nice knit polos out there, though I feel like they're even stuffier than just a good, modern tailored shirt.

I get what you're saying, I'm not saying it's formal, but you could pull it off in a business casual office if you absolutely cannot wear a shirt

*suck in air through gritted teeth* ssshhhhhhh
i guessss so, but it'd definitely have to be much more on the casual side. like Google or something
