I don't really care too much if they are MFA. They are Redwing 9016s. My friend has a pair of them and they look fantastic even if they've been weathered a bunch.

I'm open to a better suggestion, don't get me wrong, but I think the beckman is a great boot.

Also I don't want to drop the money on Wolverines.

the katahdin from L.L. Bean are real good boots and only 200

>> No.7127362

>>7127345
I was originally going to get the katahdin, but it says the sole is cork and rubber. I am fine with just a rubber sole, but since these are going to be my go-to boots for when it is a bit wet outside (not like a hike or anything, just walking around campus) I think I have to pass up on them.

Which is a shame, because I really like the look of them.

From my understanding, cork is absolutely terrible for walking around in wet conditions. It is a lot more slippery than most other types of soles.
Rubber is for the most part fine. It doesn't improve your grip, but it definitely doesn't hurt your grip like cork does.

For the price, they really are good boots regardless.

Really I am torn between the LL bean and the Beckman. I like both quite frankly.

Anybody have some nice fits with the llbean? I don't like how it is portrayed on their website, color seems a little off.

yes amazing. I love them. they are not light like those cheaply made doc Martin boots. awesome leather, they break in easily, never got blisters from them. I would highly suggest using their boot guard on them as it turns them a dark espresso color and they break in easier. I'm answering questions if you have any

It's not the greatest quality boot in the world. Anybody who says they're "ZOMG SO INCREDIBLE CRAFTSMANSHIP #WURKWHERE" has never had a more expensive boot.

They're great midrange boots that don't kill the budget of a highschool/college student, and they look good. No stupid zippers or gimmicky patches of fabric or shit.
What really makes the difference is that they're beans so you can call them and say "X is falling apart, give me a new pair" and they will. I'm about to do it with my pair in a week

would you recommend the kennebec chukka? $99 seems like a good deal for a chukka boot. looking at some of the other boots right now and not all of them seem like my kind of thing but would you recommend the Katahdin over other boots in that price range?

The beans are decently practical, but they look like ass, and use second- or third-rate leather.

Idk about resoling, but for returning all you do is call them and say "I have X and Y is falling apart and I'd like to exchange them"

They take a credit/debit card to pay for shipping (unless you're a memeber of one of their executive club things) and will ship out the new stuff asap. You have to send the old ones back in the box the new ones came in with a prepaid label, otherwise they'll charge your card for a new pair.
I called to return a backpack in high school and made the call at 2:30 am Eastern expecting a foreigner to pick up but it was some tired sounding American dude in their headquarters working the graveyard shift. Shot the shit with him for 20 minutes. Hope he didn't get fired haha
