the canvas upper, thin sole, and heel closure mechanism arent exclusive to tabi, and there are tabi that dont even use them, chainmail tabi, tabi with no sole, ect.

while something with no split toe might be similar to some other tabi shoes, i definitely wouldnt call them tabi
