Tell me about your dad, /fa/

My dad:
>Fat, but in the way that you want to hang out with him. He can smoke a mean brisket
>Wears fishing shirts and polo shirts
>Plaid shorts with everything
>those canvas double loop belts that look super shitty. That or the one that clamps down on the canvas
>Sperrys, Sketchers, and sandals

I love my father, but damn he can't dress

My dad has a huge gut and is a manlet with size 8 feet. He wears a lot of polo and is obsessed with italian food even though he's irish and austrian. He dresses alright when he needs to but his body is shitty and he wont eat better or exercise. When he doesn't need to dress well he wears fucking crocks (until I broke them trying to fit my size 12s in there to take out the trash real quick, perfect excuse)

basically he can menswear but can't basicbitch or /fit/

Disclaimer: Haven't seen him in 10 years.
>6'3'' Ukrainian banker
>Alcoholic and binge drinker
>Somehow manages to take weeks off from work at a time
>Lies around at home eating fish and driking vodka and beer
>Sets up some shipping business that allows him to quit his banker job and drink full time, while making more money than ever
>Alcoholism increases
>Dad walks around blackout drunk with hundreds of U.S. Dollars (rare at the time) literally falling out of his pants because he has no idea what's going on
>Money still coming in somehow

>He occasionally disappears for days at a time and strange men bring him home passed out
>On occasion, barricades the house and claims that either the KGB or the mafia is out to get him
>Evacuates my mother and I to his mom's farm for weeks at a time
>Pretty sure he just wanted to get drunk alone for a while

Anyway, I'm gonna find him and kill him once I'm of the Navy. My now-rich uncle knows shady people in the motherland.

My dad:
>Alpha as FUCK, to the point where he seriously sucks with relationships
>He's become a really nice guy since he recently quit his job where he worked since he was 15
>Tall, strong as fuck with a huge beer gut tho
>Slicked back hair, not really balding yet but he's 55, and a badass grey goatee
>Used to wearing long sleeved button shirts because he had to cover up his bad psoriasis (cured now but the shirts stay apparently) - tucked in over his huge belly
>Expensive leather jacket he "confiscated" from a heroin addict who borrowed $50
>Rotates a bunch of union jackets he got for free from his job, I swear he took everything he could when he left. Still has thousands of rags and plain white towels from that place
>WalMart brand jeans, not a single fuck given
>Cowboy boots or flip-flops, depending on the weather
Actually that last one was a lie, I've seen him wear sandals in the winter. Jesus Christ dad, I love you. I don't even care that you were the reason I got fat as a kid, or that you worked on cars to pay the bills instead of bonding with me. You're awesome. Wings+Horns x Dayton service boots. Good luck copping a pair. They're pretty pricey.

I actually live 20 minutes away from Dayton boots in Vancouver and want to see if they can custom make these for me. You can even get a perfect fit "stencil" created for 500 bucks, and they keep it for life so you can use it every time you need new boots. Pretty cool stuff.

handguns are more deadly than any ak's or ar's

i have an ar-15 next to my bed, and i'll grab the 1911 in the desk drawer if someone broke in the house

rifles are low power, small cartridge, small mass, low stopping power, designed to wound, for cheap as possible (incl gun build quality, hence the plastic on the AR and the scrap beach wood on the AK) lot of round carrying devices.

it is very very very hard to kill a man with an ar-15 \, even with perfect cent-mass shots

which is why that kid who shot up the batman theater only got like 2 confirmed downs, after dropping a few hundred rounds into that crowded theater

My dad is passive-aggressive and has problems letting go of the past. He had a very bad car accident in the 1980s, right before he was meant to go to write tests to go to medical school. His dream was to be a doctor. After the accident, he was in the hospital for eight months. While he was in the hospital, his own father had died. As well, England had changed its immigration policy for educating members of the Commonwealth. Since my dad was in debt from the medical bills, he just continued on with the same job he had. He still does basically the same thing. He divorced his first wife, moved in with my mother, she left and he married my stepmother.

He acts without thinking of the consequences to the people around him and it's destructive. Now he's lonely and angry. He doesn't know how to show that he cares.

He has an excellent memory, but he doesn't easily forgive or forget when people have wronged him. He also victimizes himself sometimes. He is intelligent, but insecure. He likes to hold power in a relationship, so it bothered him to have three simultaneously teenaged children rebel against him. When we were younger, my brothers and I just listened, out of a combination of respect and fear.

He is a muslim when he has done something wrong. He doesn't pray otherwise. He never raises his voice, but says hurtful things at a normal, level tone. He deludes himself into thinking that the world is against him. He is deeply concerned with what people think of him. He is afraid of aging.

He smokes about four cigarettes a day. He doesn't drink.

He watches F1 on weekends. He used to race motorcycles. I am named after his first bike. He taught me film photography. He tried to be a good father. He was very protective when I was growing up, and wanted to impose the same power as my brothers. But they were boys and less subservient and more North American. He drives a sensible family car sometimes and a riced out Sentra sometimes. He has had so many affairs.

i know he can do whatever he wants, but how could live with his parents for free, until he got married, and still feel entitled and justified charging his own son rent.

I might just be talking out of my ass here, but it's harder now than it was yesterday and it'll be harder yet tomorrow.

Let's say you end up alone and in poverty for 5 years or so, then get back on track and get a good job with benefits. Not that high of a price to pay, amirite?

But if you wait, say, two years, it might take you 15 to get on your feet.

Anyway's you said you're in Cali. Find a surf shop to work in, they hire almost anyone iirc. Live with a friend, or find someone letting out a room for dirt cheap.

Anyways, look at it this way:

>You pay half your income to your old man to live in a shit situation and spiral into debt

or

>you pay 75% of your income to live by yourself and spend the rest paying off debt

>> No.7098873

ha he doesn't have any money.

but also, he (as in the pressure my mom would put on him) is the type to take me to court.

i know you were just joking, but both my parents are obsessed with power over me.
every time i've done good, they find a way to kick me down. they don't want to see me succeed.

the most recent example is as soon as i was getting a decent paycheck (by low class standards) they started charging me rent.

you say "drive to a better part of CA" but what do i do when i get there?
where do i live? how do i make money?

i'm actually curious, because it isn't like i haven't considered these things daily.

Your situations sucks, and I hope you find a way out of it, but there isn't much we can do to help or any advice we can give you probably haven't thought of.

That being said, keep the job you have now and just move out. File restraining orders and the like if your folks start harassing oyu, and don't steal anything when you leave or you'll have to dodge the law. Move in with a friend, or a coworker, or your boss's daughter, idk. you say you make a decent paycheck, so you should be able to cover rent and get promoted/a raise enough to start paying off your debts in a year or five.

Idk really, good luck thouch
