High-Fashion Motorcycle Jackets

Nothing says "rebel style" quite like ponying up several THOUSAND dollars to a Parisian fashion house for a leather jacket that will never, ever be born on a motorcycle.

actually serious should I buy the ACNE oliver leather jacket for motorcycle riding?
I noticed the front zipper isnt concealed and has only a small wind flap underneath at the top.Would that be a problem?
Otherwise considering a Belstaff panther in waxed brown, but it seems like i would never be able to ship it to Australia... or even try it on to be sure about the sizing

That is a beautiful fucking jacket, I would totally cop that if I had the cash. But I wouldn't wear that for motorcycle riding. Don't be fucking stupid.

What you want is solid steerhide. Check out the Schott 641 for a real moto jacket.

Also, I am an autist that wears leather jackets. I want to pull of the Marlon Brando look. I am a greasy little nerd that wears costumes and grabs women's asses. I want to look cool, etc. etc. etc. Leather jackets look like shit, never wear a leather jacket.

A leather jacket isn’t a garment, it’s a mistake. A goofy looking mistake.

Look at anon wearing a glossy black-cowhide jacket and you can almost hear the dialogue that goes through his head: “I can’t pull off a leather jacket. Wait a minute. You know what? Screw it. I’m going to be the guy who looks good in one. Wait a minute. Does this fit right?”

You can picture him slipping it on, looking in the mirror, and thinking to himself, “Nice”. What he failed to consider is that a leather jacket makes a statement. Despite the jacket’s fit or design, the statement is not a flattering one. Leather jackets are synonymous with the movie icons of the previous century. Images of the bad boys, James Dean and Marlon Brando come to mind. Younger men, trying to sex up their image, try to emulate these movie icons. Leather jackets have, essentially, been relegated to costume wear. No matter what kind of leather jacket you wear, someone will think, “Wow, he’s trying to pull off the Marlon Brando look.” What does this mean? It means that you cannot be taken seriously when wearing a leather jacket.

My answer: No. Leather jackets are costume-ish. Costume-ish is precisely how the cowhide jacket looks on a hapless fool from /fa/. It’s time to get real. Leather jackets don’t exude coolness or sex appeal. They are tacky and are doomed to clichédom. In the collective subconscious of /fa/—despite ample evidence to the contrary—is the idea that leather jackets appeal to girls. On the contrary, walk down the street in a leather jacket and every girl will perceive you as a threat or entirely pathetic. She will avoid you. She will imagine you as a greasy creep that might possibly grope her ass, or even worse, a greasy little nerd that wants to look like a badass. A leather jacket is a mistake in first impressions.

When a leather jacket is thrown over an outfit, it serves as an event horizon; the point of no return. That leather jacket instantly ruins the outfit, and it testifies the poor fashion sense of the wearer. Leather jackets never look good. Never wear a leather jacket.

funny you should say that.
The reason looking for a new jacket is because I bought the "28 Inch Fitted Cafe Racer 660" from them a few months ago
Then realised the finish is really tacky and shinny, the hem is also way to long and loose for me.

A friend of mine had a cafe racer jacket from ToJ. He was so proud of its customization--that it was made from his measurements, and that it was so unique.

In reality, the jacket was just mediocre. While the cowhide was actually of good quality, the craftsmanship left a lot to be desired. I saw some fucking irregular stitching on the hem and in the sleeves. It was like a drunken child made the jacket.

I don't want to know how much he paid for ToJ.
If ToJ cannot make a proper cafe racer, then they shouldn't bother making leather jackets.

Genuine leather is designated as such because it is made of animal skin, therefore not synthetic leather. However, Schott's leather is second-par to other brands out there.

There's this guy in San Francisco who will custom make a jacket for you, and he mainly uses Chromexcel (somewhat trendy skin right now) leather. Compared to his work, my 641 looks and feels like something from Zara.

The design's good, but I'd do some research into the quality. I don't have any more personal experience than strolling through an AllSaints store a few times, but supposedly their leathers are subpar.

Normally I'd just tell you to spend a tiny bit more and get a proper Schott, but I don't think they make one with a wool torso like that.

From what I've read and been told by someone who makes shoes is that genuine leather is the lowest grade of leather with full grain being the highest grade.

Thickness and being "supple" really are not a measure of the quality or durability of leather. If we are speaking about cowhide/steerhide you would look at the finish...if the leather has a stamped pebble grain or heavy applied finish it is lower quality. Typically, a thick and supple type of leather has been made that way at the tannery by over conditioning the hide. This type of leather may feel thicker and more broken in from the start but the trade off is less tear and abrasion resistance. I would suggest that you read up on how leather is processed/tanned and then graded. Or get some leather samples from both leather suppliers and jacket manuf. so that you can compare these various types. This may help you to understand what you are trying to talk about better.

Leather jackets are autistic and should never be worn. Leather jackets look like shit. Never wear a leather jacket. Leather jackets are for manchildren who want to look like badass men in the movies.

>> No.7061331

>>7061289
I'm not who you responded to, but you have no idea what you're talking about. Anything that is not full-grain leather is low-quality. And who the fuck cares about tear-and-abrasion resistance? You want thick and supple leather. You are just angry because somebody said that your cheap genuine leather jackets is shitty quality.

That being said, you should only go the designer route if you're buying a leather jacket. Your fucking gay Schott is shit quality and is only qualified for MFA fits. Stop spending your money on Mountain Dew and save up for a YSL or Acne leather jacket. More importantly, stop writing shit like that on this board.

I want something simple and horsehide. I'm open to suggestions.
