Talk a little bit about yourself and why you like fashion.

I'm 19, male. I'm white, I have an undercut (although I want to grow it out and maybe do a man bun or something else), and I like minimal/modern style. My favourite designers are Rick, Damir Doma, Yohji, Ann, and Acne. My wardrobe is all black, but my grail is white achilles CPs (student budget).

I'm a bit of a misanthropist; I have a feeling of superiority yet inferiority at the same time, like I'm insecure but I think I'm better than other people. I'm 5'10, and glad I'm not 5'9.

I tend to say I'm ottermode but I'm probably more like skinnyfat. One of the worst decisions of my life was buying a drkshdw tee from Gilt and then finding that it wasn't especially flattering... I'm never wasting that much money on an internet purchase again.

My favourite music is minimal/ambient, like Andy Stott, and my favorite movie is The Holy Mountain. My favourite author is Kerouac, although I've only read one of his books, and I'm not sure I fully understand it yet.

I mostly shop at topman, uniqlo, and zara, due to my budget. Even though I can't afford designer, I look to designer for inspiration, and buy pieces that remind me of the ones I admire. I have some decent basics.

I can't stand dadcore, which is way too common on this board in my opinion. Honestly I think this board is turning into mfa.

I like fashion because I have an interest in aesthetics and I like to differentiate myself from others.

I started the "dadcore" meme because I wanted to see it eliminated from the board. It was really bad, the whole used car salesman like Denim Dan could actually be taken seriously. The shoe of choice was Allen Edmonds and Aldens, Rick was barely considered /fa/ outside a few threads.

Too bad it devolved into w2c Geobaskets and dreambox sneakers. But, that is the direction the fashion industry is heading, the most popular way it gets fed to the middle class.

My interest in fashion is primarily to escape, as much as possible, from having any connotations associated with my dress that I don't agree with or don't believe in. I want to make the clothing I wear represent the kind of person I live to be. So to me, it is a conversation between myself and my beliefs and the clothes. Let's say for example tradition, and the extent that I think tradition should and shouldn't play in our daily lives. People had clothing made for them, it was a more personal relationship, it wasn't mass produced and bought at Target or Old Navy. Most people are perfectly fine being a walking advertisement for the brand of their choice. That's the way it is, and I think in terms of mass production high fashion designers command the most of our attention. So that's why I dabble with some select few designer shit from which, I have to sort out what looks good on me and what doesnt. It also becomes a question of design. How modern and how traditional should your dress be? How into the future should you attempt to take it? This is what makes fashion fascinating for me. And it's sad that it just becomes a flaunting of wealth and sexuality. But that's another question, to what extent are we egalitarian about the way we dress? Will the masses just always be the masses, and we are the ones that just succeed with fashion while the rest fail?
