The layers, the fur, the power of the silhouettes, and how easily the silhouettes translated across body types and ages.

Too hard to pick, but maybe Miyashita's last. Some Chalayan shows have also really done it for me.

>>ditto

Miyashita's attention to craft and his ability to transcend a cheesy inspiration (rock music, almost always) and elevate it with emotion and detail.

tbh fascist faggot is so annoying because he doesn't shitpost

its a fact that when you shitpost, you contribute because you're comfortable enough with the board and community to do so, when goofninjas posted in 2008-2009 they were always super fucking serious like fascist faggot so thats why nobody liked them

then the dadc0re faggots all wore sweatpants and when they shitposted, dadc0re died

shitposting = the essence of /fa/

ok, i read through anoraks reply to my post, its a shame i missed it back then.
first off, lets make clear im in no way as knowledgeable a he is when it comes to this stuff, but i still have a few thing i want to say.
>it's art masquerading as fashion,
i may be naive in holding this viewpont, but in my eyes fashion design is at its core visual art.
of course, when mass produced and marketed to a broad public, functionality plays a major factor. but im sure he wouldnt bring the functionality argument up when it comes to high-heels or uncomfortable clothes that "dont server a purpose beyond their visual aesthetic".
> it's also technology masquerading as useful
at this point in time this may very well be true, but a few decades ago computers were considered a gimmick, reserved only for academic experiments. now i wear one around my wrist and it tells me how many kilometers ive ran.

let me take a swing at it -- correct me if im mistaken --

Y's (late 70s onwards) -- womenswear
Y's for men (couple years after Y's) -- menswear
--> both Y's lines focus on "everyday" wear; use dark, washed fabrics, etc.
Yohji Yamamoto (1980s onwards) -- men & womenswear [first collection he showed in paris]
Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme (1984 onwards) -- menswear
--> in comparison to Y's, the YY lines are much more cognizant of the European couturier traditions -- see constant references to gres, vionnet -- use more colors, pioneer more daring cuts & shapes, etc.
Yohji Yamamoto RED label -- clothes from yohji's personal wardrobe
Yohji Yamamoto Costume D'Homme -- (?) sometimes called the legacy line
+NOIR -- womenswear in black (a true diffusion)
COMING SOON -- a true diffusion, possibly defunct now (?)
s'yte -- t-shirt & accessories sold through the online store
Y-3 -- adidas collab (...) yohji's not involved in the design process whatsoever.
Limi Feu -- yohji's daughter's line

A lot of brands that have sub-labels that don't sell widely outside of their domestic market (e.g. Comme des Garçons Comme des Garçons, Y's) are often only shown during their regional/domestic fashion weeks or only in showroom settings.

but it's also more than enough for someone to quickly scribble down and censor its existance from their cop searches soley based on our lame opinions
imo much better to vaguely give an impression opposed to defining each line eluding that our opinions are supreme. may vary findings instead of what might be perceived as ubiquitous definitions of what may or may not be diffusoin lines.
