I think it's genius because it comments on how high fashion is perceived by an outsider perspective. It's easy to judge a garment. It's easy to not be into fashion, and look at a Thom Browne collection, and think, "Wow, that looks ridiculous." But when that kind of ignorant distaste can be so easily passed onto a model, what does that say about our society? The looks in this show are an amalgamation of the outfit, the model, their expressions, their size, and their race. If you throw a fat woman on the runway, fashion fags and non fashion fags alike are going to judge and ridicule that person, the way they would a garment. That act eliminates the personhood of that model, they're no longer a living breathing human being deserving of rights, they're just a "trashy look". This show challenges the idea that casting a tall, stern, size zero (and often white) model is the only way to go because society perceives it as creating a "blank canvas" for your work.
