Levi's Shrink to Fit.

Yes or no? Is it a good babby's first selvedge jean? I don't care about fades, I can't say no to a jean like that being under 40 bucks.

Well, I'll go for it. The only thing I don't have in my wardrobe is a pair of dark indigo jeans and these seem to be an excellent option for me.

And about the selvedge, pic related are STFs and it appears to have a selvedge. But I don't have very clear what selvedge is anyways. Dunno if it's that.

Difference between raw and selvedge? Noob here.

OP here.
Not an expert but by what I understand raw is non-fabric washed denim and selvedge is pic related. Raw doesn't necesarily have selvege, and selvedged jeans don't necesarily have to be raw.

Raw means denim that has been washed, and often not sanforized.
Selvedge refers to the white line, often detailed with thread, normally red, on the seam of jeans. This is because on a when the denim was woven on an old loom machine, there was a process known as self-edging, producing the white strip of fabric. Most jeans were done with an open seam along the jeans, meaning the selvedge was visible. The colored thread was originally used to identify the company the denim was for (Red was traditionally Levi's).
You only get selvedge on denim produced with traditional vintage looms - it means it's more expensive, and less cost-effective for companies considering these machines are a lot less productive. But they're more authentic, and that's the reason denim nerds like them - it shows character, the denim produced on these older machines normally has a lot more inconsistency and irregularity in terms of slub/feel, and they're going back to the heritage of denim.

selvedge describes the fabric, you can tell if something is selvedge by the seams on the outside of the leg, if you turn the pants inside out they have a white/colored edge instead of a bunch of thread.

raw simply means the jeans have never been washed before.
