So, I've been done dressing in monochrome basics for a while. I'm done with the black vans, white converse, and roshe runs. I'm done with the zara bottoms, black raws, and h&m sweatpants. I'm done with the uniqlo, AA, and everlane tees. I only buy scoop neck, no more v neck or crew neck.

But, now I have a new wardrobe. I've spent so much, but I've come out with so little and I don't feel too good about it.
Raf velcros, Y-3 qasa high.
Yohji pants, Julius, and DD.
Undercover, Yohji, Julius, and DD tops.
I have 9 pieces of clothing to show for my wardrobe and I've spent $2200

But at least I look good eating pizza, r-right?

This is the what User said is extremely important. You can look at pictures of sick outfits all day on the internet and think you have a good idea of how to put together an outfit but you really, REALLY have to know yourself. You have to actually get out there and start trying on shit irl or buy alot of stuff over time and see what works and what doesn't. People say User dresses very "basic" or something but you have to understand that's probably a result of a long time of curation / experimentation. It might look simple but none of us are even close to pulling it off, our standards just have been distorted by the internet.

Having said that, I do agree with the sentiment about the bandwagon. Poeple have associated Yohji with easy high fashion. As in just slap it on and you're suddenly on a new level.

Stlyeforum is a perfect example, their yohji threads are laughable at best sometimes. There are only 2 maybe 3 posters there who wear Yohji with the respect it deserves. I started wearing yohji more than a decade ago and I'm still not at the point in my life where I feel 100% like i deserve to.
