... actually, the more i think about it the more i want tatami flooring
seems it gets mouldy with humidity though. that's a dealbreaker, too humid in here.

It doesnt get moldy with humidity. They do get old pretty fast so you need to change them every couple of years (you can turn them around once)

source: lived in tokyo and my room had tatami (tokyo is humid as fuck during summer)

it's not a house, it's a ballroom.
was rented by some band but they couldn't afford to heat the place through winter apparently.

no? they are considerably more tempting, then.

the mould thing is something i dragged up from a quick google search, which brought up this:
http://www.thejapanguy.com/the-trouble-with-tatami-japanese-straw-mat-floors/

i should look more properly.

he must be one dirty guy.
Im telling ya, i was in many many houses with tatami and no one ever had a mold problem with it.
Like that blog says, its so disgustingly humid that you have to put dehumidifiers everywhere. If you leave your clothes in the closet youll find them humid next day, its terrible.
But tatami never gets moldy.

>dat smell of a tatami room
grorious. i miss it.
