The 1951 is well made and warm. Can't go wrong with it as a winter coat. Look for a good deal since they tend to be expensive nowadays.

An alternative which I like better is an M65 field jacket + hood liner and jacket liner. (The unlined hood lives under the neck zipper.)

The parka no one would care about in the US. It just looks like other winter gear. Vets would, if familiar, think it was a wise choice for cold weather. Scotchgard the FUCK out of one when you get it, then Scotchguard it again.

If you get a field jacket, buy black or dark blue. Exception, you live in the South in which case cammies and hunting clothes are normal. Scotchgard the FUCK out of one when you get it, then Scotchguard it again.

NEVER wear any part of a dress uniform. That's window-lickingly stupid. Never wear any insignia or decorations or service badges.
