had them for about 2 years and i wear them a lot. they should last a while longer, but the upper leather is in great condition but i can tell the soles are gonna wear out before the rest. it isn't even the entire sole either - mainly the part right under the back heel know what i mean?

Possibly, if you separate off the outsole insert without damaging the banding you could probably use it as a template. Cut out a new outsole from a sheet of rubber, add sipping, and reattach it using shoe goo. I've used a similar technique to repair some Chucks that had tear out on the outsole insert.

It'd be closer to the base. Feel where the heel rests on the shoes. If the stitching is under that point, its the stitching fir the sole. Unless CPs make you 2 inches talker, I dint think that's it.

I'm pretty sure the stitching just to attach the sidewall. The outsole is probably an insert that's about 1/4" thick. Alternatively the sidewall and the outsole could be one piece and shaped like a bowl.

You are probably better off retiring them from frequent use. The insole is attached to the sole and the upper leather is stitched to the sole as well, so I imagine it would look bad if you get a new sole when you consider that the leather has stretched.
