someone do this and report back pls

1. grab your old converse (cmon you know they aren't fa anyways, who cares if you fuck up?)
2. paint those fuckers white (http://www.amazon.com/Artists-Acrylic-White-Gesso-Medium/dp/B003T0VOE4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1378720994&sr=8-3&keywords=Winsor+%26+Newton+Artist%27s+Acrylic+White+Gesso))

paint from the link is your best bet but anything should do

3. post results here

alternately, i know some of you are rich as fuck so just buy converse and paint and help us plebs out

I'll help you on the house OP.
1. Gesso is not paint, it is a primer, it has a similar texture to off milk and is very thick. Lumps and all.
2. I have black converses that I use and have spilt paint on them through actual painting.
3. I will post a pic, there isn't much on them but a bit, if you want. The colour isn't incredibly strong, and not much of it.

If you want me to post a pic, just say please.

Shows what you know: those are authentic Margiela.
If you want the look, pay for the shoes: if you don't want to pay, then learn to be content without them. I guarantee it will look terrible - just like when the multitudes of people tried to replicate the paint-splattered Maison Martin Margiela GATs, they didn't have the right paint and it just ended up looking tacky.

But you won't have the paint right, at least I think it would be very difficult to replicate exactly - I'm certain it's not just store-bought Converse - at least in terms of material/construction (one would at least hope that they're double-layered canvas like the Comme des Garçons Play collaboration, or the 1970 line). Furthermore, I'm sure the sneakers are primed before and finished after painting, and that couple with the specific type of paint, fixant, etc, it would be pretty hard to replicate and have a decent-looking pair - at least in my opinion.
Perhaps if you stop lamented being poor and making bad financial decisons (E.G. Stop wasting your money as well, such as buying mainline converse, paint, and then subsequently rendering them unwearable), you could probably save up for the MMM x Converse collaboration by the time they come out; that is, if you really care about them that much

Use gesso op a lot thicker and more chalky whereas acrylic is plasticy

Also those are Jack Purcells, not a traditional Converse All Star.
I actually prefer them to any other Converse silhouette, in fact, they're the only pair of Converse I own. Perhaps try buying a pair, in white canvas, and don't paint them? Or perhaps just paint the black "smile" of the toe-guard if black offends you so much.
>>6868774
So my intuition is right! Yes, they'd be double-layered canvas and better quality construction: keep in mind that the regular First String 1970 Converse sneakers retail at about $100~$120 online, and that's without any special treatment such as the ones the Margiela collaboration would undergo. If you ask me, the price becomes more and more reasonable by the minute.

Great choice! I hope they bring a lot of future hapiness.
They will be available online from the looks of things: Tres Bien blogged about having them recently, as they carry both Converse and Margiela
http://blog.tres-bien.com/2013/09/soon-converse-martin-margiela-collection.html
When? I'm not sure, but keep a look out: I don't really like sites like Hypebeast and High Snobiety, but they might be useful.
I'm not sure about other sites selling them, but search around. That being said, Tres Bien is a fantastic store with great online interface and I've had a great experience buying with them in the past.
Glad I could be of any help!
