Hi /fa/

I was considering on posting this on the lgbt board, but the only reason why I won't is because me being trans is barely above mention other than serving as a reference for why I'm asking.

So, my shoulders are BARELY wider than my hips, I stand at 5'9 and weigh 180 lbs (I'm working on dropping it off. I just got out of the Army)

May I get some fashion advice?
Selfie included.

Really, I'm just looking for a style that will work for me best. Nothing fancy, (though I do have a few formal type dresses) Basically stuff I can wear around campus and it not be this horrific mess of clashing clothes.

Also, If you have makeup ideas, I'm entirely open to them.

No, I have been avoiding that board since day 1. Really, as someone who is more interested in just living a semi normal (Read: not try to be special) life, I consider it kind of counter productive.....

And so on.

So, any advice?

Since your're pretty tall you dont want to dress in a monochromatic way since it'll just lengthen your body.
Instead breaking your body into sections will be the most beneficial and if you wear striped make sure they are horizontal and not vertical as this adds to the illusion of height.
I'll give you that shit for free but anything more i want to hear your backstory.

>> No.6850749

stop dressing in tacky womens clothes that women don't wear. you look like the male perspective of women's clothes. like really? a sage furball cloak and red corset? are you 12 and shopping at hot topic? I understand you never had a teen girl phase to wear this shit but c'mon.

Backstory?
Sure ok.
Well I'm 27 for one. So, from a very young age I identified with girls and thought myself one trying to play with girls toys and so on and so forth. Drove my parents up the freaking wall too. They discovered my stash of clothes I had been slowly buying when I was like 12 I think and, upon reflecting on it (I have related these kinds of things to my therapist), I think my parents knew I was transgender instead of it being some kind of fetish thing or whatever because mom went out of her way to try and make me act more "Manly" everything from yelling at me when I crossed my legs like a girl to having me say endlessly "I will not cut off my dick" and such.

That kind of behavior (With the occasional beating from dad because he just hated me anyways and was always looking for a way to hurt me) continued on well throughout my teens. When I was about 19 (Long since graduated) I decided to kind of appease my family by joining the Military to "Get manly and stop this for them"
Yeah, that went well.
So, for the last 8 years I have been struggling with the whole trans thing and decided that I wasn't ok with trying to deny myself. So, fresh out of the Army (Having been stationed in Places like Japan Korea, Hawaii and so on ((Yes, I was in Japan during the quake. It was scary)) ,I recently got out and am starting the slow transition process.

I'm actually cool and happy with the fact that I am trans. Ok, so not everyone is going to accept me. ...What else is new?

But, yeah, that's my super shortened backstory. Being in the military and out of contact with what I like to call reality, though, I'm... a little behind on fashion

Ummm your features are still too masculine to pull off wearing full on women's clothing without looking like a sad joke. Are you taking any hormones? Also /lgbt/ hates trannies so I d doubt you'll get much help there as well. If anything you can try to dress more androgynous rather than like a costume of what you think a woman should dress like or looks like. I'd say buy what you like according to your tastes but they don't seem to be really developed yet and pretty bad and outdated. Just buy feminine men's clothes, and masculine women's clothes for now and aim for andro rather than feminine if you don't want to look like you're wearing drag costumes instead of clothes 24/7.

Oh, the outfit was for some event. God.. I don't dress like that on a day to day basis, nor would that be a normal style. I was really just trying to get a face shot. So far,c I typically wear capris and short that are girlish cut with regular t-shirts. Shoe wise, Since I no longer have to wear boots every day, and until it gets cold. I just go with thin strapped sandals.

Thanks for the bits of advice though. I apologize for not using a better picture, but I don't really like taking selfies.

>>6850814
unless you're really able to pull off a feminine body (which at 5"9 and p beardy from what the pic looks like will be hard), wearing straight girl clothes is probably a bad idea, especially considering you've had less time to fashionevolve in girl clothes.
for now yeah, get feminine guy clothes i guess, and ofc always keep trying to increase your knowledge. pay attention to male/female fashion, save inspo pix, find a style, etc. when you think you can put together a solid female style without looking like a costume, you'll probably want to look into hormones or some similar shit, look around for advice for that

You need a better haircut. Or better hair in general. If you want some wig advice go to /cgl/ if that sounds interesting to you.
Great hair makes every fit better.

You also need to lose weight. I'm also 5'9 and I'm 120 and really not horribly skinny.
Don't waste too much money on clothes before you've reached your goal weight.

As a trans you should google flattering clothes for rectangle shaped bodies.
MtFs have the problem that they have no waist. You already know this but you should build your wardrobe around clothes that create the illusion of a waist.
You also need to learn more about makeup and colors. That hair colour is not working for your skin tone according to that selfie.
And ditch those horrible glasses asap. They are extremely dated. Get contacts or ask for what's in style right now when it comes to frames.

You need to learn how to do your make-up. Just a single wing eye will do wonders for making you look more feminine. Can't d anything about that 5 o clock shadow and jaw though...

Thanks for the advice. It does help a lot (Even if it hurts my ego a little. I'm actually totally fine with that. These are things I need to hear)

One thing I have been failing horribly at is the makeup part. I get foundation down, but when it comes to say sculpting,I am having issues.

As I said before, I'm going to look into better glasses. I never liked the ones the Army issued because they were so plain. I already got pierced ears and I actually agree that the wig color doesn't work.

One thing I am looking into, is laser hair removal. Again, this is something I am waiting on the cash for. More specifically, once I have the money down, I fully intend to get the beard removed once and for all.

I'm going to look into makeup tips for jawlines as I think it's one of the worst features on my face (Aside from my jewnose) Though, I bet someone could easily list out the flaws in my face.

I'm just posting this now as I am about to get a quick nap in before I go out for a bit. So, thanks again.

I'll also be lurking the board a lot from now on. Fashion is something I need to get spun up on anyways!
