Thanks, it's very simple really, I'm now finally in med school which is what I always wanted. I still design but far less often and freelance instead of being just a number in a big marketing company.

I should note that I was more of an graphic illustrator do, (I do most of my work with pen and paper) and I do slightly hate the current design world or more the atmosphere. So many with no passion and who don't even know who for say Tanaka Ikko is and when you show them don't even care.

And your portfolio is pretty much the most important thing for getting jobs and clients.
I don't really have any big tips apart from getting the books colorindex by Krause and Typography by Friedl, because colorindex is the design cheat tool of the century and Typography has more information about typography then most people will ever need. They are not required by I found that myself and my colleagues used them a lot.

Colorindex is roughly the size of a really fat pocket Moleskine you can take that with you, but typography is more then 3kg so please don't carry that with you, some people hate it do, don't know why, read some reviews and decide if it's anything for you, considering it can be expensive in some countries.

I only use pocket Moleskine's as agenda, grid and then make up the pages myself. I'm not fond of their own agenda layouts, which aren't flexible, for drawing I use Bindewerk notebooks, german, simple, raw and with a very light ivory colour not that chink yellow that Moleskine has, thick pages and every page has a perforated line for tearing it out neatly. Or Ordning & Reda if I want paper whiter then Hitler's ideal.

Luxury designers tend to make small and large billfolds. The smaller ones are for US currency; larger ones are for foreign currencies.

Tom Ford makes great wallets, but they're hard to find.

I'm slightly into fountain pen's but I only use them for sketching or signing papers, I have a very tiny collection, nothing special. (This Lamy Persona on the left is my favourite, because it was designed by M. Bellini) The reason i don't use them for general writing is because my handwriting is so small even with an ef nib it becomes really hard to read and I dislike the scratchiness of that nib. But softer nibs smudge even more, hence I always write with an 0,5 H pencil.

I had the same view until read my type description. I'm aware of all this cold reading type bollocks that goes on in these kinds of things but I feel like I can read other descriptions and say "that isn't me".

Maybe my description seemed so positive I fooled myself into believing it, but I went into this thing really quite sceptically and got turned around.
