Can someone please explain to me the reasoning behind certain /fa/ posters current obsession with running shoes? This includes the wallmart tier looking new balances

I just don't see it, I mean roche runs look alright I suppose, but almost all of the running shoes that get posted look like crap I would see guys in ill fitting khaki shorts and graphic tees wearing, stuff lost in the sea of multicolored ugly mesh haphazardly on display the shoe departments of generic syndicated grocery stores.

Are they somehow the new preppy look or something?

Not even trolling, genuinely curious.

Pic related, don't mean to offend the anon that posted it, but its exactly what I am talking about.

it's just where we are at in the cycle of things. sneakers are now. because it has been 15 years and they contrast what has been pushed for 5 years ( in this case boots I suppose)

that is your bias, you have nothing else in your mental vocabulary to reference. one of the core facets of fashion is recontextualization, change

most designer running shoes have interesting colorways and such and are crafted with an awareness of the stigma and connotations that are already held by these autism shoes

I think sneakers have always been a way to bring a fit together. You can wear those with plain pallet and make a good outfit. It really is nice having color on your garments, and in my opinion when done with a air of subtlety it will end in colorful fits that this board seems to be lacking of; mostly due to the monochrome aesthetics modernized by many popular designers and brands that understand the diversity of it. Monochrome, however, is hard to offend with and usually requires less thought which indeed has some admirable aspects behind it. That might be jeopardized, or perhaps enhanced when you wear risky designs with monochrome which do imply that you tried. Color in garments or shoes with diverse color pallets like those in OP can be the building block of an outfit, or they can just be a statement piece on an otherwise quite outfit. Anyways I admire when I see color being pulled off in a diverse and subtle manner that does not offend the eye, and really consider them higher than those monochrome with loud designs outfits.

A lot of posts here are opinions masked as concrete facts, and this is surprising on a fashion board when fashion itself is subjective and diverse. Why would you expect to understand others taste when you have such a inconsiderate and closed minded attitude. Maybe you should look beyond your biased reasoning and try to understand viewpoints beyond your totem that sits above a Walmart shopping center which you seem to have valued so much to compose the reasoning for your ideals which you try to pass off just as serious as the ones you oppose when in reality they are all subjective. To each his own, faggot.

Also, marketing. GQ was pushing New Balances so hard last time I checked. I don't really expose myself to that publication though so idk what they've been up to lately.

ever notice how modern sneakers always try to match themselves? as if they were an outfit of their own? it completely throws off whatever you want to wear. for ages shoes have been solid colors, or shades of the same. but look at these- >>6796219 one red- but in three different areas, and multiple greys. it's just too much, but raf takes it to another level. his are just fucked, and it takes away from what you're wearing in the same way as the new balances for example, but it leaves the average person who WOULD wear the NB's unsettled. of course they express that as 'wow those are ugly man!' or '5th grader walmart shoes!' but when it comes down to it, the same could be said for their shoes.
