The wiki doesn't say, and I'd rather ask you than gamble with google.

I know shit about fashion. Identifying types of tops to wear isn't something I can do.

Take what this gentleman is wearing..
>Is he wearing a short sleeve dress shirt? Where can I even find something like that?
>And the... sweater thing..? he's wearing over that. Is that called something specific? What about that?

>What brands would you suggest I hunt for?
>What stores work best for this style?
>Any Do's and Dont's you can think of
>Guys I don't know what to do
>Plz respond

>> No.6771914

Smart casual for you should just be an oxford shirt under a crew neck with some dark dark jeans (black would be best) and then you should cuff them and add either smart sneakers (think common projects achillies low type smart) or some casual dress shoes (not my forte sorry). If this doesn't help then deal with it lel 'cause i'm tired.

The Sticky is pretty shit but give that a read. Lurk for a few months before posting. Formulate your own opinion and learn new things about different styles and shit.

And don't take everything you hear on here as gospel, ironic as I'm giving you advice lol

>sweater thing
is called cardigan. leave the last button/the last 2 buttons at the bottom unbuttoned (fuck yeah i should totally be a rapper or some shit)
the shirt is most likely long sleved, the cardigan is just tight and long enough to cover it up completely.
what you want is classical menswear. brands include: thom brown, tom ford, raf simons, lanvin, dior homme, saint laurent paris, givenchy, robert geller, dries van noten and burberry prorsum.
>dos and donts
be old enough to pull this style off
have a position/job/life that requires you to dress like this, youll make a fool of yourself if you go to college classes in a suit
be tall and thin, have good proportions, dont be ugly
fit is everything when it comes to menswear, have your clothes tailored

I'm a bigger fellow.. Does this mean I won't be able to fit into this sort of thing?

I was told that black + Smart casual usually = a handsomer person, but I don't want to go through with it and invest if it makes me look stupider than it should...

Fashion for husky dudes doesn't exist ;-;

fit is everything.

I'm in my 20s, if you are not an adult/look like an adult and are not in an adult setting, menswear is not for you.

On that note, understand the differences between styles.

Classic Menswear is suitable for a man who is older and experienced, atleast from my understanding.

You want preppy.
I work in a building where business casual is required, so my wardrobe fits that, with my own style slipped in (brogues, knitted ties, woven ties, and braided belts. basically textures textures textures).
Basically, think ralph lauren-esque styles.
lots of earth tones with subtle color pops in a handkerchief, tie pattern, or socks.

You can be young but dress nice. Get some good jeans and good shoes with a nice belt. Maybe some chinos. Have nice shirts, a good pair of sneakers, maybe some basic ties for those special occasions.

An example, keep in mind everything must fit, from a slim and tapered shirt and sleeves, to a collar that goes with face shape, a haircut that goes with face shape, pants are slim cut, no boot cuts, jeans are inky indigo, chinos don't drag on ground, or have ridiculous stacks or folds.
from top down
>Styled hair, out of face, have texture in it. no slicked back bullshit.
>tortoise shell raybans
>Light green ocbd, tucked in, sleeves rolled PAST elbow.
>light cream colored chinos w/ woven brown belt
>Socks, have some expression, or no-show socks for more casual. no white tube socks nigger.
>Brown smooth or suede brogues, leather soled or crepe. no lug soled or heavy treads. You just won't need it, and will look clunky.

Bam, mofucking good looking outfit. But lets say green isn't your color (and it isn't spring or sunny where you live, which is what that outfit is suited for)
Replace the green with a lightly patterned white, with blue chinos. tucked in or not.
Some accessories: braided leather bracelet, friendship bracelet from qtgf, a basic watch, silver purity ring etc. whatever you want
then expand your style

pic related, what you want to avoid.
Notice his age and body type. Notice the colors he is using.
I'd pin him at 32 +/- some years.

But this is still a good outfit for inspo due to the colors and patterns used.

>> No.6772721

>>6772698
does this mean you can't wear this outfit?
no of course not.
You can pull this off, with experience and knowledge of how things fit, and the setting your in.
I'd wear something similair to work or to a nicer coffee shop, maybe for a walk in the park or stroll through town.

But not to highschool, and probably not to college unless it is a school wear this style would fit in or i have a presentation.
