Get a couple monochrome merino tees. Merino is a great temperature regulating fabric, meaning it keeps you warm when it's cold and cool when it's warm. I ride lots of miles on the bike in merino wool in the middle of the summer. Pic is Rapha.

actually this helly hansen polypropylene/merino wool mix long sleeve is damn amazing, it doesn't matter how much I sweat, I'm dry when I take it off. Wool can clog if you drench it.

can you recomend a good breathable aero riding jacket? thinking of getting a rapha one.
doesn't need to be water proof really.

guys i'm 193cm which is like 6ft3/6ft4. Looking to get some Levi Commuter Cargos

only problem is the longest leg they do is a 34 (also they don't sell in the UK but not too much of an issue). The problem with the 34 leg is that the only waist size they do it with is a 36 and i'm a 33 waist. Anyone with them know if its possible to have them tailored to a 33 waist? or are they too difficult to do?

So this past winter I developed a style that might be relevant here.
It's a sort of workwear/techwear/military hybrid
the result of having to walk to university classes in Wisconsin winters
earthtone palette, more canvas fabrics
like, carharrt insulated work pants, fishtail parka, and these boots
I'll try and reconstruct a fit when I get home from work
Opinions? Sound like a good/bad idea? Should I try again this winter?

I copped an aether ultralight this past week.
It came in the mail and fit great (I sized down one) and the material was incredibly lightweight/breathable.

I sent it back though to get a different colorway (the gray is much darker irl and i decided to go for the jet black)

All in all, it's a great lightweight techwear windbreaker
9/10 would purchase again

I like this jacket. I'm 6'3 150 right now and the medium is a decent fit for me. The pen holder slots on the arms are made of that same thick stuff that's on the top of the tongue of a geobasket - like a webbing of some sort. I mention this because they're so stiff they affect the drape of the jacket.
It also rides a bit higher in the back, and this seems to be accentuated when you cinch the waist straps.

>also waiting for Uniqlo FW to go into full swing for some affordable technical shells

On this, I just copped this and it's pretty good. I've always had an affection for DGAF cheap windbreakers and hoodys as much as the hardcore technical stuff, and it's a good example. MA-1ish styling in a way that doesn't come across on the pic (waistband looks a lot taller), poly, reversible, scuba hood, $30.

http://www.uniqlo.com/us/store/goods/079668?gareco=r_l4

Unsurprisingly, at that price it doesn't seem to have a DWR, and I'm wondering what kind of DIY DWR /fa/ uses. I've been thinking about sticking it on a lot of my things that don't have it, and this seems a good place to start.

Also, can you tape your own seams somehow? Sometimes I wish Uniqlo was a completely different company working at four times the price, and then I go look at my bank account.

>>6758176
Besides nthing merino, just think about function: what can I wear that not only expresses me, but actually makes doing me easier, better, and more potent?

Lots of technical jackets have zippers just there for ventilation - usually under the arms ("pit zips") and sometimes on the sides. Look for stuff that's wool or poly. Both wick your sweat away. Wool doesn't pick up smells easily, but dries slower. Poly dries quickly, but stinks fast.

For bottoms, look for stuff that's made to be durable and move with you, stuff like nylon or nylon blends, ripstop fabrics, stuff with a high elastene content, stuff with gussets, etc.

>>6758233
Try the Mission Workshop Torre: merino wool and stretch nylon. Chrome has something similar but cheaper.

I have a goretex winter coat from barbour; used in snow and light-medium rain; kept me dry and warm, fairly windproof as well. Only had it since december though, so it hasn't gone through large amounts of wear yet

I have an old, old dermizax raincoat from Bergans. It's just a thin outer layer, hardly windproof by itself. It used to be completely waterproof, but it's become less and less so with time (had it for at least 5 years). After a while washing it with a waterproofing agent does more harm than good. Still use it regularly for everday use, keeps me dry enough. The sleeves usually get soaked through in heavier rain though

others are finding techninja as cheaper, and a thousand times more versatile, and actually useful whereas gothninja is absolutely useless apart from it's aesthetic.

yet /fa/s interpretation of tech is clearly very influenced by gothninja, being that tech has nothing to do with wearing black/dark colours and yet 90% of the posts are straight black. it obviously helps with the silhouette and the versatility of a piece if it's black.
hopefully /fa/ will be able to step out of their comfort zone and play with more interesting colours like the way gyakusou does, minus all the blatant fucking brand whoring nature.

but all the shit in this thread looks so cool, i can't even.

is there any way i can start dressing like this without having to spend so much? i know some stuff will have to come later but i'm really talking if there's any techwear basics that aren't insanely pricey

Uniglo is pretty popular amongst these guys... (personally don't see the fascination)

Being poor is never an obstacle, upgrading your wardrobe might take a little longer but slowly the good stuff will accumulate to fantastic collection of garments.

Then you get to laugh at faggots at the WAYWTs
