If you google '90's fashion' you get almost exclusively early 90's wacky fashion.

Late 90's fashion was actually kind of dark and muted but with a vaguely alternative gen-x slacker vibe and some 60/70's retro stuff.

I love the whole idea and colour palate of that era, it's just the fit everything that kind of sucks.

it was based off the Grunge music trend going around in the late 90's.

It wasn't that great though. Just baggy ass jeans and oversized flannels.

>> No.6747363

>>6747324
Dude, grunge music was pretty much dead by the late 90's. By 1997 anything you heard on the radio was replays of tracks from three years prior

I'm not saying slacker culture wasn't a factor in fashion at the time, but connecting it to grunge music is really misleading. Slacker culture extended far beyond just grunge music, or even alternative music in general.

70's retro and surfer fashion was huge at the time though. People were also wearing more muted earth-tone and floral stuff, I think distancing themselves from the neon-spandex craziness of the early 90's.

no, both are shit.

80's at least had that black on acid wash blue punky thing going on, along with pretty cool black culture

besides, this isn't actual fashion, it's the equivalent of posting Obey and Diamond and snapbacks as fashion today

If you want to see 90s street fashion you should check out the movie "Kids".

My highschool was steeped in early 2000's 'sk8ter' culture. This wasn't it.

Those kids wore baggy ass cargo shorts, hoodies and airwalks.

Spent every lunch in the parking by the band wing trying to land ollies.

Later on a few of them started dressing like Rivers Cuomo, but they were the rarer breed.

Because ever era has a single style right? And all of that was high schooler skater style, right? No, the style op is talking about was pretty popular and usually worn by the 20something crowd from like the mid 90s to a point in the early 00s.

Skater was also nothing new in the early 00s. The late 80s and early 90s also had a skater thing going on. Though it was kinda indistinguishable from grunge at the time, it was actually a little neater than grunge. Like that movie "Airborn" with Seth Green

I still have my late-90s walkman. My mom swears it's hers and we fight over who's it is still. I gave it to her somewhere in the mid 00s long after I stopped using it as it was very fucking apparent at the time that tapes were dead.

I wonder of I should carry it around
