recently I've been listening to a lot of hauschka, supersilent and ford & lopatin (including the That We Can Play EP as Games). on the "all time" level though I guess some stuff that comes to mind is fennesz, talk talk (and mark hollis's solo album), a few tracks off Oneohtrix Point Never's Rifts and Returnal, and a lot of stuff with a bit of country in it, like yo la tengo and early Wilco (I was sort of raised on country music). I don't fall easily for singer-songwriter personality-types, but Bill Callahan and Jens Lekman are favourites. and then some of the staples, like boards of canada, mbv, burial, etc.

I don't really listen to punk, it never "clicked" with me. not so much early post-punk either. never did like joy division.

I find it a lot easier to point to favourite songs than favourite bands; I wouldn't call Boris a favourite band of mine, but Just Abandoned My-Self is definitely a favourite song. or icefall by nobukazu takemura. also show me the coast by the war on drugs. etc.

I do enjoy a lot of stuff out of the popular side of the indie scene, but some of it doesn't stay very enjoyable after many listens. like I'm really sick of hearing about crystal castles , but dirty projectors and beach house hold up pretty well for me.

the other day I was very psyched to find out that there is a new Julia Holter album, I really liked her first two. for the most part I'm not great at keeping up with new music though
