Tall and average. You can do some minor changes to look a little above average. Lose lots of weight or lift. Or even get the basics in surgery such as implants. Sure there's surgery for being taller, but it has a LOT of downsides, such as pain, irregularities, and your arms being shorter, because all it does is really add length to your legs, leaving things disproportional. So far, there really isn't a way to fix height.

I only recently (~2 years?) realized that some women are actually put off by a good looking man on account of their own insecurities - they'd rather date a mediocre looking man and retain what they perceive to be the upper hand in terms of desirability. Control.
I was really surprised when I first saw it happening in friends' relationships and realized the motivations at work. Then I remembered that guys will do this all the time - date a borderline or meh human being simply for the sake of being the more 'valuable' party in the relationship and thus retaining a certain level of control.
Pretty weak stuff, if you ask me - but I think most people will grow out of it as long as they keep working on themselves. I've found that the quality of the partners I'm presented with by the Universe has a direct correlation to how much I've got my shit together.
Quality, of course, both transcends and includes physical appearances.

Yeah i hear you fam. I think its more common in girls simply cause girls tend to be more insecure about their looks which is what that pretty directly stems from. Some dudes (like a lot of ppl here) are like that though, they get their sense of value through knowing they look good, but that is usually a feminine trait - certainly very unmanly. Also a girls value usually comes mainly from her looks (esp if shes hot), and even if she's clever and wealthy the looks give her more value. She wouldnt want to be with a guy who was a lot better looking cause that reduces her value. Whereas looks are only a small slice of the pie of male value, but the same applies, just with different (and more) ares. A dude wouldnt want a girl who earns more than him and works a more powerful job, even though he'd be happy with a girl hotter than him. Fortunately due to how evolution works the reverse is true for a woman (who dont find the thought of their man being less poweful than her very hot in general) because evolution leads to the men n womyn fitting together like lock and key
