I understand and appreciate the sharp and brutally honest criticism you display on this board - which does help nabs like me understand how to get better fast.

However since I've started taking a closer look at mine and others' clothing, honestly, maybe 10% of people dress in an apparent nice and self-conscious way. Maybe it's just because it's summer, but still.

My question is: How do you judge people in everyday life, compared to how you judge people here? Certainly, you must accept that some people dress like shit, or else you'll despise everyone.. ?

>TL: how do you tolerate the way most people dress like shit irl?

I ignore them and let them live their lives.
I do NOT use an expensive & planned wardrobe as an excuse to think myself superior to them.
That's bullshit, and if you're doing that you need to stop it and remind yourself why you dress the way you do.

Remember that not all people spend 5 hours in this board and know very little about fit, colours and even less about fashion. So, I don't really blame them. I just care about how I look and even though I'm on a plain tee with some 510s and any generic shoes people will say I look nice because I know all the basics... and beyond.

Also, w2c grill in the middle with short hair.

It's exactly that, OP, I tolerate them. There isn't a secret trick to it, you just accept difference and get over it. They don't care about fashion, I don't care about things they probably care about.

I refuse to stress about it or judge other people on it, unless they really deserve it.

/fa/ is a lifestyle choice. Its sole purpose should be to boost a person's confidence, and inspire others. Getting mad at someone for being /fa/ is like hating on someone for having good posture. It's their money, not mine. Similarly, hating on someone for not being /fa/ is is arrogance. Not everyone can spend their money on expensive (even well made) clothes when, in the grand scheme of life, their are dozens of other things more important to worry about. I have more respect for someone who pays their bills and uses their extra income to be /fa/ than someone who uses their extra income on McDs -- which brings me to my last point: for people who hate on /fa/; what do you spend your money on? If you spend $50+ a month on fast food for just yourself, then why are you angry at people who spend that money on clothes that last longer? Or what if you spend $50 on gardening a month to impress your neighbors? Is that even as practical?

stop thinking you are superior to people who dont dress well

fashion to most of you on here is a hobby. like all hobbies some people partake in them and others dont. in no way is an interest in fashion and dressing well superior or inferior to anything else.

someone that may dress poorly may have a wide breadth of knowledge say on literature and may be an aspiring novelist, or a sportsman.

just because you walk around in expensive clothing doesnt make you superior in any way.

thinking you are superior to anyone because of something as superficial as clothing is a very poor trait

It‘s decent enough for buying at least five things a month. One good pair of jeans, some real leather boots, some good sneaks, a nice backpack or bag to carry your stuff around, some nice shirts, good equipment for your skin and hair care materials, and if you know how to buy you‘ll have money for accesories (belts, glasses or ties) At east that‘s what I‘d do if I were you.

Just because I happen to like fashion doesn't mean everyone has to like it, too.
I fucking hate movies for a passion for instance and have watched maybe 20 of them in the 24 years I live on this planet. Can't be bothered.
/tv/ would hate me so fucking much, you don't know.

I tolerate the way most people dress like shit irl because I'm one of those people.

I'm the best sprinter that my college water polo team has had in, according to my coach, about 20 years, and I'm on the intramural gymnastics team.

I don't need to bother with clothes. I've carried my team to state championships so many times, I regularly show up to class wearing one thing - a fucking towel. Literally. JUST a towel. No speedo underneath, no shirt, no parka or any of that shit. Just. A. Towel. And nobody gives a shit. Because it isn't what you dress like that makes you important or "look good" in other people's eyes, it's what you achieve and what you're capable of doing.

I'm not one of those /fit/ bros, but I look decent, I study hard for my classes, I train hard in practice, and I help people who need help. People respect me for that. People want to chill with me for that. It was kinda an eye-opener for me my first year of college when I really started taking off. I went in thinking "oh shit, everyone's gonna be dressed 'x' way and I need to be dressed all good and junk for girls to notice me and for people to think I'm a cool guy". I was totally wrong. I hate to sound all corny and shit but I'm living proof that you can literally walk around a heavily populated area for months wearing nothing but a towel or a parka or some shit, and after like the first 2 weeks, people will start ignoring what you're wearing, and start paying attention to what you're wearing on the inside. You can be wearing like crocs, dirt-stained khaki cargo shorts and a fucking sombrero and nobody will give a shit as long as you're a cool guy.
