How good, like audiophile quality? i also heard they have a very small soundstage. I'm only asking because I'm thinking about buying them.

just fyi they are open headphones

i've never owned grados but from what i hear they're some of the best headphones for listening to rock music but they aren't as well-suited for other genres, not that they'll sound shitty on them but not as well-rounded as beyerdynamics or something

if you listen to stuff in the rock umbrella primarily then they're very highly recommended

something about them having an "aggressive" and "punchy" quality

>> No.6649832

>>6649825
also they leak a lot of sound due to being open headphones

I'm wearing a pair of Grado SR60's right now, which are basically the same thing. They're my current favorite cans, I even prefer them to my AKG K702's. The sound stage is certainly small, and you have the problem of the notorious "grattle" (look it up), but they have a very unique sound. They're decently flat cans. The bass could be better, but with a little EQ it's not an issue. If you plan on using them in public, get different pair of headphones. Even among open headphones, Grados leak a LOT of noise.

Might as well trot out this old favorite.

One brand that's conspicuously absent from this chart is Ultrasone, I really like them for DJ cans. Their pro models are exceedingly comfortable too.

the open ear design makes them have a bigger soundstage

I personally use the Audio Technica's ATH-MR50/s
They are really good for their price, and comfortable as shit.
sound quality is very true to the sound. So nothing is to enhanced. every thing Is equal really. Only thing is. They are monitor headphones, so there is a rather long cable. I believe its about 6' long. Overall good Over Ear Head Phones.

Agreed with everything you said.
The bass isn't overpowering, but it's incredibly crisp and the highs are very clear.

Get the coiled cord if you can.

I use these. For 100$ they are a steal but they are definitely not the end all be all <200$ headphone. They do have recessed mids but I doubt most people could tell.

My next pair will definitely be Beyerdynamic DT880's.

The soundstage is great. the depth and rage, is exceptionally well. It reacts really good with just the overall sounds. Its like a fucking theater on you ears really.

Got portapros for travel, and these AKG k240s for home.

I know they are /mu/ approved and both sound great for the price.

I've had these for a year or so, great cans.
They can be a bit clampy on your head, so if you have a big head I don't know how comfortable they would be.
Otherwise, fantastic mids and good bass. Good soundstage too.
