Luciferianism (not Satanism) is probably one of the more /fa/ religions. Pagan worship, particularly worship of Venus/Aphrodite/Isis/Freya, is probably another more /fa/ religion.

However, religion is inherently not fashionable, because the only time to be overzealous or speak with true zealotry is when speaking to support conscience or absolute truth, which are really one in the same. Religion is predominately contradictory to that.

Why?
Because you think anyone should be anything they think they want to be? Shouldn't there be boundaries to what a person considers of himself?

For example, if a couple gets married, the husband is obligated to share his wealth equally with his wife.
Why shouldn't that be a rule? It's basic morality, in my opinion.

I think some more liberal Muslims (or any religious liberal) think that we should apply the basic moral guidelines to the time period and cite the existence and need for religious scholars at any era to interpret the text for what the current world is like.

There is a somewhat controversial Islamic rule that states that wives must be with a man they know when they go on trips. I don't think (nor any Iranian Muslim) this applies anymore, but in the old days, the Arab world was really unsafe.

Just my two cents.

>There is a somewhat controversial Islamic rule that states that wives must be with a man they know when they go on trips.

But the problem is is that that rule is still in scripture (I assume). Every major religion is bogged down with stupid rules like this, and for all the time we spend worrying about them, we could just be sticking to a set of moral guidelines and leaving the complex business of the law to our governments.

We should only do it for hermaphrodites, according to scholars. As I said, we have people to study the religion to interpret the current guidelines.

I understand your point of view, it's something I think about a lot. But I try not to worry about it too much. If you meet me in real life, I don't seem particularly religious, I keep it mostly to myself and I think that's how it should be.

I don't really worry about the small rules and just try to be an ethical person (though I fail a lot). I like Islam's theme of being greater than just an animal, by keeping calm, lowering tempers, etc. It can seem quite zen.
