Check your semiotics, that ought to tell you all you need to know. Hell, I don't even need a black mannequin with a name like that floating around.

Are they a decent brand? I've never really looked that deep into varsity jackets, and their site looks like it was set up from a template that really had nothing to do with the site.

can someone recommend some higher quality alternatives pls

I have no idea what they are. It's the way they've chosen two words to pair with a sensibility that you'd expect from someone using ideographs. Something considerable is lost in translation, but the characters probably have multiple intertwined meanings when written in their native moonrunes.

tl/dr - the idea of garment manufacturer named "Angel Cola" sounds like something you might see on Engrish.com. Proceed with caution.

I just realized what poet meant after coming back to this thread and rereading his post.

I'm retarded and tired, sorry everybody.

Thanks for replying, and the name never really struck me as odd.

Anyways, to the OP, I think we can safely assume this was a bad cop. Now, anybody know of a good hooded varsity jacket for under $150? Preferably in black.

Don't be sorry, your question encouraged me to articulate a concept I've been struggling to crystallize for years - Why does 'Engrish' always read the way it does?
I got back to thinking about some translated Japanese short stories I read a while back. Writing with ideographs affords you a certain poetic license. You can present large clusters of imagery in... co-mingled chunks. Meaning twists and overlaps more easily. Direct translations are actually impossible on account of how many potential meanings a single character can have. The pitch and inflection that a word is spoken with can change its meaning entirely.
I've always felt like this sticky, non-linear mechanical fact of ideograph-based languages pokes it head out in every bad localisation or shitty fansub I've ever seen. In translating the characters they always go literal, ignoring entire oceans of unspoken meaning that native and fluent speakers take for granted.
If you want to do it right, make it sound properly western, you sometimes have to rewrite small portions of the text itself. Proper translation is hard. More importantly, it's usually expensive.

This is one of the main reasons I don't like using auto-translators on Asian websites, I always feel like I'm missing out on several key points, if I can read it at all.
