I've been trying to grow it out but my problem is that my hair grows very fast (by this I mean I pretty much have full stubble after half a day) but quite thin.

So while growing it out i look like a jackass and it takes me forever to have decent thickness.

You might not be able to have the haircut for awhile if your hair is so thick that you can buzz it up higher on the sides without it no going back like you want it.
You should try getting it went every morning and every ngiht before you got to bed, pull it back, and then put on a hat (maybe a baseball cap since they're stronger) to hold you hair down and back.
That way it will train your hair to more naturally lay backwards like that.

It's not my fucking fault if you live in Florida and the only dreadlocks you get to see on black guys are shit ones put together in Shaniqua's Hair Stylin', but here in Montreal there are loads of /fa/ as fuck, black guys with very nice dreadlocks (and with a wardrobe to match their style). My dreadlocks have got me nothing but praise.

Contrary to what people say, they do require some care (unless you want to look like every other pot dealer/hood rat, in that case, hair and forget) I shave the sides and clean them every week.

I am not rasta nor do I think only certain people can have certain hairstyles. What I believe is that white people's hair is very ill fitted for them: it is fair hair, it reflects the light so you can see every hair sticking out, it looks ratty and dirty. Straight hair is horrible for them too, since they fall apart very easily. To prevent this, they often use nasty products and whatnot.. And even if every care is taken, they still look like shit. It just looks horrible on them. The only time I remember seeing a nice white head full of dreadlocks was in the body of a girl that was at least a 8/10.

And don't even get me fucking started on the attitudes of the wearers. I tend to be a very calm person but very few things throw me off as having to talk to some gauged-ear, 2weekbearded, "rasta" moron with a Che Guevara shirt while he thinks we have a connection because he miserable attempted to get a style ill suited for his hair. Maybe that's where some of ruseness comes from: every white guy with dreadlocks (well, except 1 or 2) I've met were like a caricature of the same fucking stereotype. I even got into an argument with one of them at a party because he was basically badmouthing my friend for being white (he is Norwegian so he looks "aryan") while the fucking moron was just going on and on about DA BLACK STRUGGLE.

tl;dr: It's a haircut ill suited for 'white' hair. The people that have it tend to be sperglords
