because they're hideously ugly and no matter how good you try to make them look, another shoe would always have looked better.

then again, I'm not even into this kind of stuff in general. yohji's collaboration with adidas feels more inspired, whereas raf often feels to me like someone just trying to be "out there" when he's at risk of losing relevance.

I'll admit to not really being into high fashion. But I see more to appreciate in the work of designers like recht and poell, or even yohji or rick (neither of whom I care for much, but their work at least seems to achieve something).

I don't mean high price tag, I mean high fashion in the sort of aesthetic sense. I doubt the sneakers were meant to be paired with clothing that's equally cheap; he didn't call these "raf by raf" and let's be fair, 400 is a LOT for an all-mesh Adidas collab shoe. It seems at least likely that these are intended to fit into his main line, albeit in an awkward way.

I guess you can argue about whether raf is high fashion at all. I tend to think he is, but I may have the wrong definition of "high fashion"; I don't mean haute couture. I guess I just mean designer fashion.
