Think about how the nerds in computer science dress, they are the ones that google is also interviewing and I'm sure that they hire them. Just dress better than that and I'm sure that you will be fine.

I told you to google it.
It says to wear what makes you comfortable in all of the articles you pleb

Clearly you've never seen a CompSci class. I wouldn't wear the clothes they wear in public.

>>6608438
I'd like something to make me stand out/look professional. I just honestly don't know what to even think about wearing. I'm from the east coast, and I've never even been to California. That's why I'm looking for help.

Shirt, slacks, sweater. Easy enough.

>> No.6608454

Silicon Valley hates suits, so you'd have better luck just showing up in jeans and a hoodie. Maybe jeans and a shirt.

>> No.6608464

What do you look like OP?

>> No.6608467

I think you're fine with a pullover and a shirt under it. It's Google, you can look a bit nerdy.

dark blue jeans

1. Buy expensive suit, make sure it fits pretty good and looks decent with your skin colour
2. Take it to a tailor and tell him to tailor it
3. Wait about a month
4. Shell out more $$$
5. Be the best dressed and style on all the nerds

Wear a blazer. Dress fashionable but quirky and smart casual. Yeah, quirky. Google is guaranteed to be filled with ledditXD faggots who fucking love that shit.

I don't think they like suits there. Maybe tossing out the tie and leaving the jacket open would work?

Button down
Chinos or trousers
Belt and nice leather shoes
Maybe a smile too

was reading about this awhile ago and they really don't care.

they've had people come in dressed to the T who suck and people who come in with shorts and sandals and blow them away

what's your resume tho, op

>> No.6608687

Wear shame OP.

Shame.

>> No.6608710

when i applied at google all the people who interviewed me were wearing button ups, chinos, no jacket. one stately neckbeard wore a t-shirt (he was the best interviewer too) i didn't get the job, but a friend who did wore like a blouse and a leather jacket.

i think if you wear a t-shirt you will be outdressed by most people who interview you and it will feel awkward, but if you wear a suit you will be way overdressed. button-up, chino, and if you really want you can wear a blazer -- you will probably end up taking it off.

*friend who wore a blouse did

anyway what actually matters is how you do in the interview. you have to go through 5 interviews, and in each one the interviewer will come in, ask some polite questions about your resume, and then ask you to implement something. the last part is the only part that really matters

here's the trick: they're not going to ask you to implement something hard. it'll be a variation of merge sort or w/e the fuck. don't waste time studying super-complex implementations, because what they actually want to see is clean and non-insane code with like interfaces and shit. it's more important than anything that you be able to write an *elegant* mergesort, not just a mergesort. that was my mistake, i came in knowing how to do all this advanced phd crap but my basic implementations of boring stuff were correct, but intelegant

to me google seems like a fairly relaxed place

I mean, just look at their workspace, it's filled with bean bags and playgrounds, isn't it?

make it business casual/smart casual. slacks, loafers, unbuttoned shirt.
