if you want workboots, not redwing, but Hall's or Hoffman, Wesco boots. Wesco can craft a boot just for you, the way you want it to be. A custom boot. They also do some casual and dress shoes.

>hybrid work/chelsea thing?

Sort of. Both Australian work boots and Chelsea boots evolved out of a style of equestrian boot called Jodhpur boots, which originated not in the Victorian era, not the 1600s, pic related.

You could essentially call AWBs Chelsea boots built to take punishment, and one of the great things about them is that they're the only style of workboot that can truly be used in a non-casual context without it being a big statement. They're also famously comfortable.

RM Williams makes the best, with a very nice and sleek wholecut construction, one seam on the whole boot tucked away at the back. Blundstones are next, not wholecut and not easily resoleable but substantially cheaper. Other companies also do them - Rossi, Redback, off the top of my head - but I wouldn't consider them. Quality is lower (or so I've heard, but heard frequently, and the pricing suggests this) and the designs are busier and visually heavier, much less readily repurposed for wear with a suit or tuxedo

Different guy here, but yeah it's changed again with recent seasons and it's weird.

I wear 40s in Silent DD, 39 fits me in Rick boots from a few seasons ago, but I just bought a new pair of black leather Ramones sneakers in a 38. Crazy, smallest numbered size I've got, and it's the sneaker. I usually take 40s (Silent, CP, Gram, Ann D.) and cautiously aim for smaller with most boots, so to go 2 sizes down for sneaks is nuts. But Ricks really need to be tried on, boots or otherwise, for that reason.

I've seen it done, by people who know what they're doing, successfully. I haven't done it because I don't often have cause to be a in a tuxedo.

Why?

Because you are self conscious about yourself, and feel like the only way to justify your own failures is to point them out in others?

Respeak, there is nothing wrong with heels.
