6589187 No.6589187 [Reply] [Original]

I'm getting tired of my basic tees. I have a rotation of basic v-necks and crews and it's all really boring. I feel like my shorts (I live near the beach) and jeans and shoes and jackets all are much nicer than my shirts. I know it's all fit, but a man can get tired of having nice fitting v-necks every single goddamn day.

How to break the monotony of the basic, plain tee?

So essentially I'm asking what to wear with shorts besides the boring basics.

Occasionally I wear a fair isle sweater and boat shoes with chino shorts, but it gets old. I want stuff I can wear every day. Basically just interesting tees.

Any different types of interesting but not over the top garments? I'm a very serious student and I do research with professors, etc. so I can't go full /fa/ because people are shallow motherfuckers, but I want to look and feel nice.

I have so far:
Blue button up plain
Blue button up spotted
Gray-white, Beige chino shorts
misc. plain v-necks and crew
fair isle sweater
two striped cali tank tops
two henleys
baseball tee
pocket tee
red flannel
dark blue jeans
vans twill era 59
boat shoes
fancy socks (one pair fair isle, another 5 pairs gray and black striped and dotted)

How to supplement the majority of these boring ass v-necks and tees? I find myself wearing them all the time and they only look good with pastel chino shorts and boat shoes.

go for more traditional types of garments with an interesting twist. like for example, look for button down shirts by number(n)ine, ann demeulemeester, and y's that have interesting details and construction. if youre in a professional environment, they will look kind of normal to an untrained eye, but have all sorts of interesting detailing under closer examination

here is an example of an ann demeulemeester casual button down with interesting detailing/construction.

AA's viscose and modal fabrics are awful; they pill quickly and warp considerably with wash and wear. OAK does better and is partially owned/subsidized by AA anyway.

are oversized tees ever split at the sides (or something?) for layering? i don't like the way symmetrical tees tend to look "round" when layered under things.

what i'm envisioning extends 2/3 down your thing, but doesn't wrap around your torso at the bottom and just falls straight down

i swear i've seen a few, but i can't find an example anywhere.
