I'm getting tired of my basic tees. I have a rotation of basic v-necks and crews and it's all really boring. I feel like my shorts (I live near the beach) and jeans and shoes and jackets all are much nicer than my shirts. I know it's all fit, but a man can get tired of having nice fitting v-necks every single goddamn day.

How to break the monotony of the basic, plain tee?

Any different types of interesting but not over the top garments? I'm a very serious student and I do research with professors, etc. so I can't go full /fa/ because people are shallow motherfuckers, but I want to look and feel nice.

How to supplement the majority of these boring ass v-necks and tees? I find myself wearing them all the time and they only look good with pastel chino shorts and boat shoes.

go for more traditional types of garments with an interesting twist. like for example, look for button down shirts by number(n)ine, ann demeulemeester, and y's that have interesting details and construction. if youre in a professional environment, they will look kind of normal to an untrained eye, but have all sorts of interesting detailing under closer examination

there isnt a name for it, its just an alternate way to make a t shirt.

Pretty much. T by Wang tees on sale hit that price point, too. You're really just not going to find much that has a complex cut/drape to it. What you'll mostly see are slouchier tees with a good jersey (rayon or blends) that approximate the vibe, but not the actual fit or detail.
