dont buy a leatehr messenger bag for college you'll look out of place. i had one for about half of my first year from some shit company called desert postie (shit fell apart after that, garbage bag). but it didn't look that great. invest in a better backpack. check out Makr, Fjallraven, or Filson for some better bags
