I think my major issue comes with the fact that many of the crust punks I've encountered act like they've "figured it out". Some (by no means all) of them probably come from pretty generic middle-class backgrounds and have "chosen" to opt out of the "system" by not working, not having homes, and simply living off what some of them perceive to be the largesse of society at large anyway. Why work when you can beg and still afford food? Why work when you can just drink and go to shows? Why buy a house when you can sleep anywhere until someone tells you to go. I don't mind that attitude unto itself (because I agree that there's plenty of waste and that there's plenty of disparity and there is definitely a link between the two), but I do mind when crust punks act entitled to being given spare change or leftover food as though because they've "figured it out" they deserve it more than, say, the homeless disabled vet down the block who can't work (though I'm sure he would if he could).

Not all crusties are traveling kids, but an overwhelming majority of them are travelers, and vice verse not all travelers are crusties, there are many that like hygiene, but a lot don't care about hygiene or hate it. Some crusties are homebums too. Its not common to meet a crustie who stays in the same place for a very long time unless there's a REALLY good squat there like in NYC (the squat is also part venue, its a gigantic fucking building, its truly marvelous)

Most traveling hobos you see in canada tend to be less identified with any particular sub culture. You see some in cowboy boots, and some in hemp, and some in punk patches. It's a mixed bag. I'd say that fewer of the punky ones I see look like travellers though.
