Names are a proxy for your identity. they stand in your place when you are not there, and how people call/identify you as an individual. what are effay names, /fa/? also, how effay is yours?
mine's Matt.
>kindof hope its got a timeless, accessible, but still modarn enough feel to it.
except it is pretty [too] common. maybe 6.8/10?

phonetically, i've always liked the names/would consider calling a kid that belongs 2 me:
Molly
Marcus (not mark)
Olivia
Michael (not mike, although, perhaps too common aswell, also biblical...)

whats ur name? what names do u like?

Where I live, everyone who became part of the night/fashion scene got a name picked by others. You could give suggestions, but it was still in the hands of other people (which sounds better because they pick a name that fits, not something they think is just cute or whatever). Could be an actual name, word or adjective.

Mine is Delle. Means "noble".
I'm thankful for it, I use it to this day as an alias. Others were not so gentle, a friend of mine got "Frayed" due to his terrible sense of fashion.

And I like Molly and Olivia, but not Marcus; I think it reminds me too much of shifty ghetto kids.

My top choices:

(girl)
Arielle
Madeline
Caroline (pronounced like Carolynn)
Odette (actress from "House" but I'm not sure I could pull the trigger on this name)

(boy)
Gabriel, but I have a pressing fear that he'll go by Gabe, which is about as bad as normal names can get.

I still struggle with this. I never "remembered" (nor forgot, for that matter) who I was, but I now view identity completely differently. I used to view identity as something inherent to a person, akin to the concept of soul. That inherent central piece of them was what made them (and me) "real." I have come to view people as reflections of their experiences and nothing more (unless you consider certain biological aspects, such as mental illness, part of personal identity).

It's like this: when I was a child, I was taught the name "dad," and taught to associate it with a being. I gradually attributed actions and emotions to that being, thus forming the person "dad," in my mind. In the same way, I was taught my own name and seeing how I acted in felt in certain situations, developed a persona, a perspective from which to make decisions. However, these original (and many later) actions were merely habits learned from observation of other humans (as "human" seemed to be part of my identity (this is why feral children are very interesting to me). The conclusion that this all led me to was that identity is constructed, and that the person in question had no agency in that construction, because they had no control over their exposure to people or experiences. This was crushing for me at the time (and still bothers me to an extent) because it showed that I was not "real" by my own definition of the word.

The term "mask" suggests a certain amount of deception, but my realization was not that people purposely wear masks to better move through society (though that does happen), but more that I never was anything but a "mask."

This board, man.

My name's Dennis. It's p. cool but here in France, people pronounce it like "pénis".

I'd name a daughter Louise, a son James in honor of my father.

My name's Jaime. People never used to have issues pronouncing it, but now I always get "is it JAY-me or HI-may?" I am whiter than white, what the fuck do you think?

Cameron

It's my name so it is what it is but I've always thought it was a bit too effeminate.

I introduce myself as James at parties.

My name is Rafael. The "ph" spelling of my name seems to be more popular than the "f" spelling. Other than that I feel my name pretty great. I've only met a handful people with the same name.
Names for a girl: Katherine, Emma, Gina
Names for a guy: Sullivan, Reuben
