/fa/ Hate on me or not, but I'm a swag fag. I know you hate on us but hear me out real quick. I been browsing /fa/ for more then a year now. Never posted a thread before, occasionally commenting. From what I've learned is alot, not all, but alot of you guys are kinda losers. No offense but you guys are kinda like skinnier better dressed neck beards. You guys seem to not have much sex, have balding/bad hair lines, get made fun of for your looks by normal people/plebs and have a blind obsession with Rick Owens and shit were the neckbeards have a blind obsession with /mlp/ and anime and shit. Now the thing about being a swag fag that I actually enjoy is that girls find you good looking, the average citizens finds you good looking, also you tend to do well with girls. If you get the attitude with the style you do great with girls. If you really wanna intimidate with looks put on a snapback, sleeves denim vest with a hoody, some dope chino skinnies and shoes that match your hat and or top.

>> No.6388768

>> No.6388785

>>6388768
Yeah but you still can't deny my good point. You guys may consider me to be a faggot but the average person on the street thinks I look good, unlike the average /fa/ user who thinks he looks great in his manskirt but gets hated on by the average person.

>> No.6388804

OP here, The definitions of fashion is "A popular trend, esp. in styles of dress, ornament, or behavior." Swag is a popular style, Rick owens/Raff simons and what not is not really that trendy or popular. I mean fashion is kinda what the average person wears, what's big. You guys may think you looking great but it's not the popular trend.

post a fit OP, I bet you thought of all this by yourself sitting in your room deluding yourself. The truth is you probably dress like shit, and feel insecure about looking good so you come here to feel better about yourself telling yourself that everyone on /fa/ are better dressed neckbeards.

>projecting

>> No.6388900

I have the feeling most of /fa/ doen't actually dress like what they circle jerk to. Like me, I wear black skinnies roshes and a dark t almost always. Looks "different" without being fucking weird to the average person. You gotta separate yourself from the idealism of the internet and keep your fits rooted in reality.

Every board has it's delusional hivemind interests... /fit/ thinks that women actually like body-builders and that to transcend dyel they must take steroids, /mu/ has merzbow (although I kinda like it), /pol/ has jew fear, /g/ hates everything mac and can't understand why people like the minimalist design instead of putting together a faggot battlestation for everyday use, /o/ thinks miatas are the ultimate car.... the list goes on and on.

If you don't realize these things, you will be trolled into something autistic on every board you visit.

>> No.6388926

>>6388751
OP you're generalizing like a retard, most of /fa/ users don't post fits so you can't judge how they dress. There is an on going trend when it comes to raf and rick but you're mistaken if you think the majority of /fa/ blindly loves them. There are only a few users that actually religiously follow rick, and usually they don't pull of the fits very well.

Swagfags are uncultured, they wear stupid hats just because they are trendy, they listen to all the same hip hop, they all wear the same color chinos, not to mention all the weed references on your clothing that looks obnoxious. The fact that you're comparing swagfags to /fa/ as an entity just shows how stupid you are, do you even realize you don't have the slightest clue how most people on this board dress because you don't know them.

I'm not even saying you guys have to be swag fags but for fucks sake make what you consider fashionable something else. You guys are ridiculous. I'm not saying all awkward loners but going on here the people here act JUST like people from /b/. It doesn't matter how fucking skinny, tall, well dressed you are, or how good your haircut is, if the average person doesn't find you stylish, and girls sure as hell don't let alone find you attractive, are you really /fa/?

>> No.6389134

Although you are trying to argue that /fa/'s way of approaching fashion is indicative of some insecurity, what you are suggesting isn't any better. To follow trends and buy whats popular to please other people isn't any less insecure than what you are denigrating /fa/ for.

Why do people here act like awkward /b/tards? Because this is 4chan, and many of the people here are either in highschool or early into college, a population high in social immaturity.

> if the average person doesn't find you stylish, and girls sure as hell don't let alone find you attractive, are you really /fa/?

I agree, no you are not. However, if you develop a strong personal style that looks great and expresses yourself well, is that not more stylish than following whats current?

The main problem is the fact that it is '/fa/' to be like what you just described. Shit like this is one of the bigest problems with /fa/. This is suppose to be a board about fashion, yet for some reason no thread can have a actual fucking discussion about fashion because a lot of people on here are like the assholes on /b/ that they insult. It's all annoying shit like "Fuccboi" and "Post a fit". Can anyone on this board have a actual god damn discussion without all this bullshit. Also don't even get me started about when someone dislikes fucking rick owens or some popular thing that is big on /fa/ and they get fucking shit on for having their own opinion outside the /fa/ norm, like I'm being shit on for right now, when my opinion actually makes a lot of god damn sense.

OP, swagfag is the teen equivalent of 'wearing a nice buttondown shirt and some slacks', except it lacks some of the latter's appeal to older people(like 30-40+). Brands such as Ralph Lauren, Rolex, Rayban, and so on are so widely recognized as 'quality' and 'classy' that anybody who sees their logos on your person will think higher of you due to that. The same goes with brands like TI$A, Pyrex Vision, OBEY, Dope Couture, etc. Rappers and other cultural icons donned these logos and made them cool, and by wearing them people who know of these brands and think highly of them will think higher of you, also(there is a balance here, however, see >>6389197 Overdoing it will make you look incredibly tryhard, but I imagine that's a thing in all styles)

The same goes with also applies to those who worship Rick Owens. In the rare case that they meet somebody who also knows about the brand and likes it, they'll usually think higher of them.
Again, the same applies to those who worship Supreme, and would gladly suck Jebbia's dick any day of the week. See here for their own word on it" http://www.reddit.com /r/supremeclothing/comments/1gd1g0/how_do_you_react_to_seeing_someone_else_wearing/

/fit/ makes fun of /fa/ all the time.

On /fa/ people starve themselves and want to be skinny twinks. On /fit/ people eat a shitload, lift a lot, and have a more masculine ideal i.e. basically strong jaw, big muscles, etc /fit/ is more "pleb" and traditional.

/fa/ is like a bunch of teenagers wearing skinny jeans/hitler youths.

The only thing they have in common is vanity. But it's a whole different kind of vanity.

/fit/ will tell you to eat more and lift, /fa/ will tell you to eat less and dress in pretentious expensive mundane shit.

OP's post is no better simply because he labels /fa/ users as:
- Losers
- Skinnier better dressed neckbeards
- Unexperienced sexually

These generalization are all based on threads made by few users, they don't represent /fa/ as an entity. OP suggests that attracting girls and looking good to the general public is something that comes naturally from being a swagfag, this at first glance caught me as a troll.
If you really think being a part of popular culture makes your life easier, then you may be right. But you must realize that following trends in the manner that swagfags do, is the complete opposite of what most /fa/ users want to do. /fa/ users do have some newcomers that feel like they need to dress according to trends to impress their peers, but normally a /fa/ user wants to be unique more than anything.

The difficult part of trying to be unique, is to at the same time look good in the eyes of society. This is something that /fa/ strives for, a look that is not only validated through social opinion but also unique. Well the truth is that look is close to unobtainable unless you have flawless male genetics.

idk why I wrote this but, whatever.

But do note, the stuff you're seeing posted in WAYWT's on /fa/, sufu and SZ (well maybe not SZ lol) will probably be remarkably close to what comes up in the next two years. >I have the feeling most of /fa/ doen't actually dress like what they circle jerk to.

This. Just because there are a lot of threads focusing on avant-garde fashion, it doesn't mean that a large amount of /fa/ users dress in full-out rick.

Furthermore, the average /fa/ user who complains about "gothninja" doesn't understand how much of a blanket term it is. Many designers use dark colors because it shifts the focus of their clothes, and diminishing all their work into one stereotypical, non-existent "gothninja" uniform is insulting. It's akin to calling everything with button-ups and pants "dadcore" (which doesn't happen as often as many people say it does).

/fa/ is not a great board. To say so is delusional. It is also wrong, however, to say that it's an insufferable hivemind and entirely a shithole. Like I've said before, there are several posts a day insulting /fa/ as a hivemind. That's ironic.

OP, you also should have read the sticky:
>Fashion is different for everyone. Everyone partakes in it for different reasons and that's okay.

You obviously value looking presentable to the general public over pursuing a more personal, niche look. That's fine. But it doesn't mean people who are into more out-there fashion are insane. Learn some respect.

I don't think he's stupid, he just isn't good at arguing and it's painful to read. It's obvious that he thinks social norms are arbitrary, so just come out and state your premise. Then the argument can actually progress instead spiriling into a definition bitch-fight.

By the way it's obvious that social norms are somewhat arbitrary, but adhering to them more often leads to success and predictable behavior in itself leads to a feeling of safety. If someone can't even value following social norms for there own benefit then their behavior is unpredictable and therefore unacceptable in society.

I think alot of shit that /fa/ praises is just too nxt-lvl for the common crowd, so whilst they alienate the majority they manage to get in others in a similar cognitive bubble. If that's the goal then it's a goal (mostly) well done.

A well-done goofninja will get you laughed out of any suburban place but talk a stroll through your upper-class metropolitan area and you'll get a good amount of approvals. It depends on the type of area you hang around.

Me personally, like most normal people, I live in a normal area with plebs. So the closest I'll come to that upper ideal is all black and roshes, with a majority of my outfits being basic and being /fa/ simply by abiding by the big 'DON'Ts' rather than 'DO's"

Yes, but you don't adhere to the social average/norm in every aspect of your life, do you? That's part of what makes you unique. Someone who cares about fashion a lot and has a daring/out-there personality will feel comfortable breaking social norms in that respect. It doesn't make them "unacceptable in society."

The funny thing is i do see 10 year old kids dressed as "swag fags" and probably do get more girls than that nerdy looking kid in high school. It's really all about confidence and owning your look. The people dressed like this know they look good because others think it's "cool". I do feel like there's a difference between "swag fag" and "skater street wear". Personally i don't give a fuck what people wear. As mature adult i don't want to dress exactly like a 10 year old so i wear what makes me comfortable and confident. It's a mixture with street and high end fashion. Then you're like as a "KTT". I'm just going to keep being a pretty bitch get money and pussy.

Casual here. I think swagfags and /fa/ look equally ridiculous. It's all about the surface appearance, which is worthless. The longer you spend on your appearance, the less time you have to spend on bettering yourself.
I mean:
>Brands such as Ralph Lauren, Rolex, Rayban, and so on are so widely recognized as 'quality' and 'classy' that anybody who sees their logos on your person will think higher of you due to that.
Do you honestly believe that? The only people who think higher of you for wearing expensive labels are morons who think people think higher of you for wearing labels.
To the rest of the world, when we see labels on you, it's a statement.
"I care more about my appearance than absolutely anything else I could be spending my time and money on". Fuck that person.
OP's a tool for being a swagfag but he's right about you.

>> No.6390353

You've got to define what being "/fa/" actually means. This board is made up of many different styles, with none being properly representative of board culture as a whole.

If you've not noticed, your appearance is important. People like to make good impressions. As long as any culture is alive and permitted to exist, we are going to find means of self expression.

Clothing is also a symbol of status. People enjoy showing off that they can afford certain brands with prestige associated with them.I apologize for not being as enlightened as you and not having transcended the need for material success, and not surrounding myself with others like you.

>> No.6390367

>>6390320
I don't know if you're taking the piss or are too "enlightened by your own intelligence", but you're basically echoing the same sentiments as OP. As in, you have no idea what you're talking about.

>> No.6390388

>>6390353
There is a vague sense of a hive-mind with some attributes in common, the main one being a preoccupation with appearance. Not that it should be a surprise on a fashion board, but hey.

I contend that making a good impression can be and is taken too far, particularly by people who like wearing brands. You'll be seen by people like yourself who are mainly concerned with clothes, they'll be impressed. Then on the other hand, you'll be seen by the rest of the world, who'll just see obvious peacocking and wasteful flaunting of wealth. Sensible people who have real jobs and work hard and get places in life. But you're still trying to impress the fashion student or whatever ghetto women are attracted to swag. Fuck that.

Clothing is a shitty symbol of status. Showing off is a symptom of insecurity.

Those sensible people you're talking about who work real jobs and get places are the ones who can afford to show off. It's exactly like buying an expensive car. Someone who is a fan of expensive cars will appreciate it, just as someone who is a fan of expensive or exclusive fashion will appreciate someone dressed in a certain way.

You've mistakenly assumed that "the rest of the world" shares your attitude. The rest of the world obviously isn't on the level of thinking you are, so how would they comprehend that showing off and flaunting is wealth is wasteful?

You'll find that you're in the minority of the developed world who dislikes showing off. Sure, we're all insecure. Humans by nature are insecure. We're constantly looking for approval of others. Why bash those who achieve the approval?

>> No.6390423

>>6388751
It sounds like you're generalizing the entire board. The most vocal members of this board may be made fun of, but that's because they're wearing goth ninja outfits to go to the supermarket. Unless you're hanging out with people who are really into that then you are going to look silly dressing that way by yourself.

I can't take swag fags serious because dressing that way is certainly limited to a specific age group and social circle. This wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the fact that swag fags don't tend to have versatile outfits. Everything is based off being a hype beast.

Your fit reflects your personality, so when I see swag fags it just tells me that it's someone I don't want to hang out with, because they still have the mentality of a high school student.

Swag fags wouldn't be so bad if they weren't caught up in jerking themselves off and thinking they were part of some high circle of fashion; this can be said for everyone though.

TL;DR Majority of people are caught up in themselves but swag fags take it to another level, because they're not aware of how far their heads up their asses are

>> No.6390439

>>6390411
I disagree, I don't think they do tend to show off like that. The people who show off their wealth like that are mainly the children of the wealthy, and the poor (trying to appear wealthy). People who buy needlessly expensive cars are prats too.

>rest of the world obviously isn't on the level of thinking you are
Oh you! Plenty of people are, don't think I'm trying to take credit for the idea. I learned it from others too. And it's right. Flaunting wealth is stupid for a huge number of reasons. There are two kinds of people who win the lottery, the ones you never hear about because they don't go public, and the ones you see in the papers holding bottles of sparkling wine. Which ones do you think get robbed, used and bankrupt the fastest?

Why not bash them? It doesn't hurt, and maybe it'll help some grow up a bit.

The average person usually doesn't have good taste. It's why they're average. Compliments from people who don't know fashion don't mean much, because they'll be impressed by anything.

If your argument is that /fa/ are full of losers then you're right but that's not really anything new or even saying much. If your argument is that swagfags have better taste in clothing style or lead more /fa/ lives than the people on this board who are actually /fa/ then no. No one worth their while is going to take your fits seriously. Also, please stop assuming that goth ninja is the pinnacle of fashion. It works in some circles and looks dumb in others. I think fashion is a valid mode of self-expression and art, both creating and wearing it.
That being said, just like with every other form of art, there are always good artists and bad artists. Dressing goofninjurz, which is apparently what most of /fa/ strives to do, can be done well and it can be done quite badly, and the same goes for every other style. Neither style is inherently inferior to the other, although the predominance of swagfags will of course drive the anti-conformists towards the other end of the spectrum, i.e. goffshinobi.

Now you, OP, if that is your image, have in my opinion pulled it off quite well. Millions of others that dress swag will pull it off quite badly, just as there are thousands of shittily dressed street Tuaregs. It's all down to one individual's ability to combine garments into an impressive outfit, not the style they prefer.

I've been lurking /fa/ for well over a year now, and it has opened my eyes tremendously - I've learned loads about style, loads about fashion, and it actually motivated me to lose weight.

I'll never dress in all RickydickyO or RoughSemmens, because I'm a big burly man and their clothes seem to be geared towards skinny faglets, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate their work or the people who can pull off that look, much like I will appreciate someone who can pull off an all neon look.

What I'm saying, dearest /fa/, is that you should all find your individual style, and express who you are, rather than blindly copy what that cool guy is wearing. I know that is exactly what I'm trying to do - and yes, I fail far more often than I succeed. But I am having fun trying.

Your badly dressed and still a bit overweight* long-time fan.

OP, I am 21 and the only people that revere and respect swagfags are other swagfags and mental midgets. You are copying the style of trendy hip hop artists, and if you think the stares you are receiving from males/females are that of envy, attraction, and respect, then think again. Whenever I see someone with a SUPREME/OBEY/RAIDERS snapback, I fucking laugh at them. I know that the likelihood of them having any worthwhile things to say are fucking nil.

Lets be honest with ourselves for a moment, if the you seek the attention and approval of those around you, you need to be confident and relatively attractive. A sure fire way to boost your confidence is improving your appearance and health. A proper diet rich in protein, fiber, and all manners of nutrients in conjunction with weight lifting is a tried and true way to maximize your genetic potential. You will look better, and feel better and others around you will take notice at your improved posture, and attractive physique. Combine that alongside some good, flattering clothing and a haircut and you now have unlocked god mode for yourself.

The issue with lots of /fa/ users is they neglect their health in a fruitless endeavor to look better. They lack the height and musculature to imitate the appearance of models and mannequins, and despite not weighing a lot, they often have love handles, fat faces, shitty posture, and no defined jaw or cheekbones. This could have been prevented with a proper workout regimen, but can still be fixed. At the very least these guys have a fucking shot at success if the way they articulate is anything to gauge. Swagfags are destined for a life of mediocrity, banging 5/10 cumdumps, and having no interesting commentary aside from the new MAC MILLER MIXTAPE or KERMIT TEE!
