I use Halston Z-14, which is strong at first but it dies out a bit after a few minutes. One squirt on the neck/chest. One squirt on the right wrist, wipe that behind your right ear. One squirt on the left wrist, wipe that behind your left ear. Sometimes a 4th squirt on the neck/chest if the first squirt wasn't enough.

I'd suggest one spray for the wrists, rub them together, and then like very, very light sprays on each side of the neck.
If you go overboard, you'll give people headaches, but some perfumes are not strong enough to be rubbed from the wrist to the neck.
