This is the hairstyle I'm going for /fa/. I've never had my hair longer than my ears as this was just not socially acceptable growing up in Iran. I only have one question. With my current situation, how long would it take approximately to grow this much hair? Also, as you will see, I currently have an under-cut pompadour... I figure if I just let my hair grow, it'll look like shit for roughly 6 months. Are there any other hair styles that I can work with during this transition?

Thanks guys!

I started growing out my hair for the glorious man bun last September.
Started from a shaved head and my hair only reaches the tip of my nose now.
TAKES FUCKING FOREVER

Fuck seriously? My facial hair comes back fairly quickly (if I shave in the morning, by night time you can spot a difference). Is there a correlation between the two at all? (*fingers crossed*)

maybe if you double that.

you should do it man, imo long middle-eastern hair can look really really nice.

well no shit
0.5mm of growth is more noticeable on a clean shaven face than on a head of hair that is already a few inches long

so what are good hairstyles/cuts while you're in that awkward growing out phase? i'm trying to achieve manbun mode as well but my hair is starting to look like shit

>> No.6367029

I'm going for it too. It's about an inch below my eyes right now. Had a hairdresser touch it up so it'll look decent while I'm growing it out. I think it'll be long enough next christmas or so.

Nothing will look good when you're growing a manbun out. This is controlled demolition we're talking about.

>> No.6367114

I've had a bun for about a year now but I just sort of adopted the style from a ponytail.

Is there any particular way you're supposed to cut the hair to maintain it properly ? I just have long un-cut hair that I put up in a bun.

>>6367114
Yeah I figure that's what'll end up happening... I mean I'll get it trimmed when it gets long enough so I don't look like a caveman but still... I'll have to take pictures and see whether the manbun is the style for me... either that or ponytail...

One question though: I heard you should periodically get it trimmed.. to avoid split-ends and promote "healthier hair"... This you bother getting it clipped?

I trim dead ends myself every now and again but it's not a big deal. I've never used product or anything so my hair has held up well. I'd say once every few months you could trim the ends but hardly take anything

beware of looking like the villain from iron man 3. if you doi a low bun and pull your bangs down to it over your ears (as opposed to over the top of your head) you'll be fine. you do need bangs for that kind of bun though. look up chris hemsworth's bun for something like this. be aware you can't do what's called a topknot with a receding hairline

Yeah I guess, I think I could look with one, I can grow a real beard in a couple of months and I do have kind of a masculine face plus some cheek definition, the only thing that kind of gives me cold feet is that it takes a lot of time to grow one, my receding hairline (or windows peak however you wanna call it), and the fact that I have wavy to curly hair ... so I dont know.
