What does /fa/ think of Outlier?

>> No.6362328

a bit overhyped
i wore my three ways around my house about a month and already the button thread came loose, kind gets easily stained from powdered like thing but easily washed out. but it does repel water

I really want some black merino tees and three way shorts, but I'm not sure I want to spend that much money if there's an alternative.

>black merino tees

I'm sure there's nothing wrong with Outlier's, but there's nothing really special about them either. Most other merino tees, designed to be performance baselayers, will have raglan construction, gussets, something. You can cop them pretty cheaply (~$30 up) at Sierra Trading Post.

Honestly, Outlier's pants very well might be the best all-round bottoms in the world, but most of their other stuff is pretty underwhelming. Everything seems to exist in this weird, bland neitherspace bounded by very traditional masculinity, cube wear, and doing unremarkable things with slightly obscure fabrics slightly better than standard cotton. Treated OCBDs? Jay. Where's a merino-nylon or merino-hemp blend button front? A slimish pivot sleeve linen popover would be great for summer, fit perfectly with their shorts and linen bandana and towel. Instead they just shorten up the sleeves on their normal shirt.

It all seems very uninspired and conservative. You can see the passion, the flowering of ideas about what life and clothes should be in their pants. Everything else seems phoned in in comparison to them, or even stuff from the big outdoorswear houses and places like Nau (whose pants are underwhelming, hah).

*OCBDs? Kay.

It's better than most, and the whole pivot sleeve deal is great, but at bottom it's just an OCBU/D with some not entirely consonant detailing that looks mostly there to make it look modern.

I can't imagine someone having a reaction like >>6365478 to it. Like I said, not bad, just underwhelming.
