guys, i wanna go analog.

is it possible to get by in this day and age without a computer and a cell phone?

>> No.6343718

possible, sure
but drastically different from life with it
dunno about you, but in my circle EVERYTHING social is organized on facebook. if you don't have it you miss out - people are only gonna bother take the extra effort of contacting your special snowflake ass once or twice before they just start doing shit without you.

>> No.6343728

>>6343693

i kinda want that though.

i don't really give a shit about getting ass or socializing, all the people i like to see know where to find me. Im starting to think that being disconnected would be worth it of i got away from all the information blasting. Is that weird?

I've thought about this quite a bit, OP. The trick is that you have to go all or nothing, and find a lifestyle that supports the no-technology. Seriously, it all has to go or it won't work.

What lifestyle supports it, though? I'm trying to figure that out myself.

im thinking a city, maybe?

i'd probably have a landline and an answering machine but that'd be it. there's no way i could be arsed to have more.

nah it's not weird, we're in a day and age of stimulus brain fucking at 9000rpm.

I do this at spurs and when you get back in the social game everyone wants to know where you been. it's a win-win.

You're pretty useless without a phone/computer.

just delete all your social media accounts, and get a new phone number.

Damn, a city? It seems like it would be especially hard in one.

The idea comes across as "living off the land" a little to me - of course not 100%, though

I live in a small town, (in a /fa/ as fuck 1890 brick house) don't have Facebook or any social media, have a smartphone out of necessity (self employed) I have friends and I keep myself busy

Thing is, I cannot imagine life without internet. Unless you're rich, have a trust fund or some sort of steady cash income, or don't mind living like an Amish, I can't see how you can't function without it.

One day I'd like to be able to get rid of it

This thread is priceless. People born after cellphones and the Internet are adorable.

I headed down to South America for a year, no cellphone, and just a laptop (no internet, just for writing).

I did have to find some internet service, and skype family once in a while. But aside from that, it was fucking bliss. I'm glad that I had the experience, but I'm aggravated that I'm never going to feel that way ever again.

I don't think being analog is possible now, since technology is incredibly embedded into our environment such as work and study.

I really don't see how you can avoid using computers and cellphones, unless you are author who is writing on a typewriter in the wilderness.

Or do you mean you just want to be socially disconnected from the world?

Mysterious edge added to his persona
Originality amongst his generation

Due to OP's preexisting sperg levels he wasn't in contact with anyone in the first place so now he's just a lonely loser who isn't even up to date with technology

Why dont you just minimize your digital life?
Get a cell without internet, hell without camera if you can find one.
Delete all info from FB or social media accounts and stop posting shit incase you still are (>2013 >shiggy)
Block posts from other people you dont really know, so that you only get stuff from your friends for doing stuff and events.
Also dont check every 5 mins, maybe check 3times a day that should be enough. Same for email
I think this also has great benefits wirhout turning you into a hermit

the other thing that i have a hard time leaving is pictures, noone will ever call you and go "hey, i developed this roll of film and there's a picture of you, you want to come look at them? you can have one of the doubles if you want."

maybe i just got too used to being able to examine and select every picture ever taken of me.

I've never had internet on my mobile phone. Ever. I never needed it anyway. So instead of chucking your phone away just get a pre-paid one without internet. It will give you some piece and quiet, at least that's what some of my friends tell me.

Not using social media might be more tricky, I personally only use facebook to keep in touch with acquaintances and some association work, plus the fact a lot of invites for parties are done through it.

I know two people who don't have facebook, one has a 'fake' account with only 4 friends who invite her when needed. The other one really doesn't have anything, I can ask him how he manages things if you'd like to know.
