I have to drape a top to go with a skirt that I already draped.

I did the skirt high waisted and don't know what to pair it with that I can drape. I don't just want to do a cowl tank or something really easy because the skirt is really cool. It's pretty much my last womenswear project since my final collection is menswear so I kind of want to go crazy and impress my draping teacher who I have continually let down.

Drape the back of the neckline instead of the body itself. Do a low back that cowls.

you could do a gres-ish release tuck top that tucks into the skirt maybe
or you could just have the top drape over the skirt, not like you have to show the waistband

That's really easy and really boring.

The skirt has alternating black italian wool with black japanese linen panels and the darting relocated to the side seams so it looks like more paneling. Then I did it high waisted because I made a set of intestines out of a pinkish purple sweater knit and draped them onto the front of the dress, so it anatomically lines up with the wearers intestinal tract.

I don't know anything about womenswear so after I was done I realized I don't even know what you wear with a high waisted skirt, let alone what matches and can be draped.

I almost just want to tap out and drape a cardigan but I know the teacher is expecting a 2 piece set that you could walk out the door in so it really should be an actual top.

OP here, someone else asked for the dump but if anyone has pictures of high waisted skirts I would be more interested in that than draping ideas at this point. Bonus points if the matching top is knit, I don't really want to deal with bust darts and lining.
