Distressing is a big thing OP, as well as secondhand-hence the dungarees here. mix in used and thrifted with refined pieces, like a well-tailored jacket or a good pair of boots, and imo you have a right proper outfit.
coming from a punx though-definitely go DIY, or learn to sew.

What would the male version of the style of most of the fits here look like? Most of it is definitely not punk.

An easy answer would be something like "they're wearing a lot of masculine clothing already, fuccboi," but that's just the thing: one of the great things about the style is its degendering effect.

Well I posted the vast majority of pics in this thread. The things I like about a lot of these looks is the combination of strong lines (often from coats and shoes) with form-fitting jeans or tights, and slouchy knitwear or sometimes baggy trousers and stuff.

I know it's not really punk or grungey, but i thought some parts of some of the images could work

my tumblr for this kind of thing is goffshit.tumblr.com - all the pics i posted here are from there, but my tumblr's for male and female clothing, so you might want to have a look

It's quite a minimal look too... But I think perhaps a combination of tailoring and sportswear (trite as that sounds) can work well... I avoided posting some of the preppier or sportier stuff in this thread, but for example a tailored white shirt with a concealed placket, a black silk or nylon bomber jacket works really well, then with perhaps some sweatpants (jersey, or leather, or something else) and trainers; or cropped trousers with derbies, is a look that could work in a unisex way

I mean, it is a rather unisex look - the femininity in a lot of the pictures upthread comes from the long hair, rather than the shape of the clothing or bodies. There are exceptions, obviously. But for a male body, I'd try to avoid such form-fitting legwear. You could just have slim rather than skintight jeans or whatever, or you could go far the other way and go for baggy, voluminous, yohji-style trousers

It seems more difficult for guys, because the prevailing societal thoughts are against male experimentation with fashion. Obviously this stuff isn't amazingly avant garde, but it is out of the norm. However, I think one thing that we do have in our favour is that we're not judged so harshly on our appearances. Someone upthread said something about all the women being 8/10s at least - and an "ugly" (for want of a better word) woman would have a much harder time than an "ugly" guy - see Rick Owens. Obviously there are exceptions, and everyone can dress to emphasise their good points and downplay their bad ones, but it seems like a lot of judgement against females tends to be against their facial features. But this was some inarticulate rambling.

Back on topic, I think we (males) have to wear different clothes, due to society's constraints - perhaps it's best not to wear a crop top, or a completely sheer shirt. We should also use a slightly different set of materials, compared to my post here

However, we are, I feel, given greater license with 'masculine' materials, and more license for our clothes to look 'worn'. Tweed - for jackets, or trousers. Waxed cotton. Thick denim, raw or faded. Battered leather.

See, you're helping, but I'm a actually trying to de-masc the look some. It's a bit masc'd up for women; I'm trying to get at a similar effect for men, looking tough and attractive while actively hewing away from a gender archetype. Something a bit more subtle and daring than throwing on black slim jeans and a heather henley under a Perfecto before swinging my leg over a motorcycle and calling it a day.

Well seeing as a lot of this is women appropriating traditional menswear, perhaps appropriating some elements of womenswear might work? So sheer(ish) tees, loosely woven knits, perhaps baring of the arms... Lightweight materials, flow and drape, rather than the architectural structure in some of the other pictures; or maybe a combination of both.

A wide scoop neck under a textured overcoat, slim cropped trousers and chunky soled shoes, or something.
