not op but anyone that has seen a lot of actual rick dunks can easily tell from the sole, staples, zippers, leather quality/texture, stitching, shape of toebox, and laces

the sole + toebox makes it incredibly easy to spot fakes; i mean those don't even have crepe soles

just look at this picture, very easy to tell they are fake

the geobaskets are a lot harder to differentiate as the dreambox ones seem to be pretty spot on i think they just don't have rick owens on the bottom of the shoe

I've said it before but here goes: get Teddy to drop the money on them. We all know he has several genuine pairs to compare them to and I doubt that the cost of the replica versions will be much of an issue for him.

The ultimate test would be to get some french/fa/g to buy them, stalk Rick Owens, and "coincidentally" run into him while wearing them. If Rick doesn't notice, then the Chinese have won.

I lol'd but being real how is this even a thing? can you imagine the hours rick put into making the first ones and making the variations before coming up with the final product? there is absolutely no way he wouldn't. he might not say anything unless you ask him "hey rick are these fake?" but i guarantee you he would be able to tell by looking just once.

probably intrigued and maybe even flattered that there are so many fake variations of a sneaker he made over half a decade ago

theres a video i watched awhile ago where some seemingly creditable(?) market analist described why markets that produce imitations or fast fashion for a much cheaper price margin or w/e dont really impact the designers theyre ripping off
