Best building I've lived in was literally a concrete block. Lobby and mail room was a hole cut in the side, open to the outdoors, with metal stairs going up to landings, where wooden doors opened on the halls. Management gave no fucks about anything, as it should be.

Very brutalist, although I suspect accidentally. It was built as a motel in the '40s.
