>want to be #nxtlvl
>can't think of anything
>see some streetwear blogs with pics of waiters on smoke breaks
>regular clothes with apron looks kinda rick-like
>remember not having pockets for shit because skinnys
>remember people spilling shit on my expensive clothes and having to get them drycleaned

This could fix all my problems. Do you think that it could work, effay?

do you think i could wear an apron casually?

well, see, thats sort of the point.

im emulating a typically high-fashion silhouette with a symbol of the layman.

i don't really expect people around here to get it though, it'd mostly just be for myself. idk, im not sold on it entirely yet, but i think i could make it work.

i dont think u have 2 look very far at all for references to aprons both subtle and explicit in a lot of designers work. cdg, bbs, rick, etc. plus dont tie yr flannel around yr waist and tell me there isnt an apron element there

I read in a book that Aprons, Kimonos, and Corsets are 3 of some of the most referential pieces designers use for a base

I guess it's because they're of historical importance. Look at many of today's fashion and you will spot the translations of those pieces eg. Yohji since forever ago (Although haven't seen apron as much)

the corset is the basis for all fitted garments; remove the sleeves from a tailored jacket and you essentially have a corset, with the fisheye darts in the front and back panels etc

the apron is the basis for strapped, sleeveless, and waisted dresses, it turns into overalls, overalls become pants...

the kimono comes to us directly from paul poiret, arguably the first modern fashion designer depending on your opinion of charles worth. poiret frequently reference the far east, as did his closest contemporary, fortuny, and this was picked up with chanel, gres and vionnet by way of greece... speaking of, it also comes to us from our own sartorial history; the structure of a kimono bears a lot of similarities to tunics; the tunic is essentially a huge cross with a slashed open neckline and pinned or sewn up the sides, the kimono is just a bunch of rectangular pieces of fabric basted together etc. the feature we call a "kimono sleeve" is actually not the sleeve used on kimonos, but is similar to the sleeve used on tunics.

also, i'd argue that the arming doublet should be included in that list, since it's the progenitor of the set in sleeve
