Don't be so naive; theism just means the belief of a god—it can still be a religion in the absence of 'god(s)'.

>> No.6232648

Oxford English Dictionary define religion as:

The belief in or acknowledgement of some superhuman power or powers (esp. a god or gods) which is typically manifested in obedience, reverence, and worship; such a belief as part of a system defining a code of living, esp. as a means of achieving spiritual or material improvement.

So, by the very definition of religion from the the world's most trusted dictionary, atheism, the lack of belief in supernatural/superhuman deities, cannot be a religion.

>superhuman power or powers (esp. a god or gods) which is typically manifested in obedience, reverence, and worship

Pretty sure that 'superhuman power' is above average intellect, and the obedience/reverence/and worship is of that and science. Try again, next time, rebbitor.

You're implying that atheists worship those of higher intelligence and science, which is a fallacious belief.

Yes, there are those who self-identify as atheists that (pretty much) masturbate to Dawkins and Sagan, but to typify an entire group as worshiping science and scientists/people are higher intellect is fallacious

You also imply that I go to reddit, which shows that you're grasping at straws to try and insult me.

Try again.

Gnostic atheism (Also called positive or strong atheism is the form of atheism that asserts that no deities exist. Agnostic atheism (Also called weak atheism) is any other type of atheism, wherein a person does not believe in the existence of any deities, but does not explicitly assert there to be none.

I guess gnostic is a misnomer in the sense that they're using it.

>> No.6232853

>>6232808
I think you're right about it being a misnomer, because the proper version would be "gnosis atheism", but I guess that doesn't sound catchy enough, or just sounds semantically incorrect.

Although, gnosis literally means "knowledge through experience", and I don't think anyone could be brazen enough to truly "know", with 100% certainty, theism or atheism through experience.

masonic lodge

masonry symbology is actually incredibly interesting -- next time yr at the library, look for some books on it bc there are a ton out there written by ex-masons. the lodges are all plotted out according to very specific, somewhat geomantic rules that are similar in some ways to the practice of feng shui and feature the same bizarre and esoteric decorations and appliances as the lodges that were in use when ben franklin was a freemason

all those posters on the walls are (first degree) tracing boards, and i think the frisee on the ceiling is one too. notice how they all feature three columns on a floor of checkers -- the ionic, corinthian, and doric columns on the masonic pavement. the different pillars all stand for different ideological pillars of masonry, but whats really weird is that if you look for them, you start seeing those three types of columns grouped together e v e r y w h e r e especially in the united states

theres also the compass superimposed on the square, which corresponds to the circle/square duality in a lot of masonic architecture. the other three cardinal tools of masonry (the hammer, the plumb, and the straightedge) are scattered around the room too (look at the fence, the posters, etc.) the gilded g set in the compass/square at the top stands for god and geometry.

just be on the look out for this stuff because it really is everywhere (especially in the u.s.) which is interesting & relevant when u think about the role symbology plays in fashion and the particular cyclopedia of symbols that (american) designers have available to them

Ain't got no flutes dude and there are two columns of the Doric order and one of the Corinthian order. Fucking tinfoil-wearing namefags can't even into art history/architecture. The three orders were grouped together since Ancient Greece. This style was emulated by the Roman Empire and is featured in American architecture, especially government buildings. It is a representation of power. It has nothing to do with a cult.

Pic related. Doric order on the outside, then Ionic, and Corinthian closest to the center/shrine.

not even tryna say they invented those styles of columns -- they co-opted them along w/ practically all of their symbology. i kinda thought people were familiar w/ types of columns already

freemasons are an association of architects and builders before theyre a cult. the point that ive seen made in literature on the subject & that i was trying to make with the part of the post u have issue with is that its freemason members and the less-direct influence of freemasonry that is responsible for that prevalence of architectural classicism in the united states.
