Just fucking do it and stop spending your entire life worrying what your parents will think. I would recommend you take the following advice on board though:

Make sure you research your artist first and go to reputable tattoo shops. More often than not the best studios are in large cities. Decent artists will have a portfolio of work they've done.

You get what you pay for. Tattoo's are usually done by the hour costing around £40-100 an hour. The reason i suggest going to cities is because decent artists tend to work in cities and usually charge more because they have plenty of customers.

Spend time on thinking about what you want for your tattoo. Words/phrases etc.. aren't really that great to get as a tattoo as you will often find a person's mind changes over time and that clever phrase or motto you once thought was cool will end up being something you don't really appreciate. Fashion tattoo's is another area to avoid. Tribal tattoo's used to be the "big thing" when getting tattoo's but have since become quite ugly. Traditional tattoo art never goes out of fashion, google Sailor Jerry tattoo's or traditional tattoo art for examples.

Depends entirely on what you're getting done. If you haven't handed any concept work in for them to create custom designs then you need to tell them what you want done. The artist will then draw something up for you or freestyle it on your body, take a trace of it and draw it up.

It's then printed off on a transfer stencil. It then peels off on your skin in a blue/purple dye giving you the chance to see what it would look like before they start.

If you don't want it at that point just tell them, they're not forcing you to get it. Sure, you've just wasted their time and you probably shouldn't be making appointments if you're not serious about getting a tattoo but it's your skin and if you're not happy with their work don't get it inked on you.
